Buyer's Remorse

Man on man? I'm sure you meant to say something else? ;) sorry just teasing haha. I did feel guilty for a little while after buying my warwick. But the looks and tone just kill every time I play! Didn't take me long to get over the $ part.

I have buyers remorse every time I spend money on anything.

The nice thing with basses is that they hold their value pretty well and if cared for they will last a lifetime. So to me, it's a much better use of your money than most non-necessities that you could spend money on.

Relax, it could be worse. I once spent 650$ on a Rickenbacker bass that proved a couple weeks later to be a real... Ibanez. Spent the money for the real thing and got stuck with a copy. Let me tell you that every time I looked at it I felt kind of guilty myself. But the thing proved itself to be a great performer and with time I got quite comfortable with the expense.

A $500 MIM bass would hardly cause me buyers remorse. That bass is a great instrument at a decent price.

I know crazy people who spend $5,000 + to meet Gene Simmons and to get one of his basses. Great folks, but spending that kind of dough on an Indonesian made instrument gives me heartburn.

Enjoy it, and I love your taste in fingerboards and finish!

Heck, you could have spent over $5,000 on *one* ticket to the Stones tour, not meet the band, and get no bass at all. Better to have a nicely made instrument for a tenth of the cost and be able to play their entire catalog (OK, admittedly not with a homemade fretless bass, but you can play it vertically if you'd like).

And, yes, we all have buyer's remorse at times if we can't legitimately justify a purchase with a positive return on investment like the pros can. You just need to remember that the purchase wasn't "wrong" or "bad" (unless you spent the money saved for your wife's lifesaving operation--can't help you there), and, if you're playing another 30 years (think positively) the cost per year is miniscule. And, as said before, the bass will keep a good percentage of its value if treated well, so you're not really out much of anything. Look at all the TB members who flip gear on a seemingly daily basis....
