Buzzard's Bass

It's funny to see this name pop up again, but I exchanged emails with Brian/buzzards a couple years ago and I have never had an encounter like that before and hopefully never again. I was going to purchase an SX jazz for a student I was working with and asked about a mod to add a preamp to the bass. From his reaction you would have thought I was asking to destroy a mint vintage bass with a radio shack transistor radio. The dude just ripped into me and I fired back and about 4 emails later I never heard back from him.

This is on the Buzzard site. I wish I was making this up....

"Bottom Line: Just because a person places an order on a website does not give that person any more rights than the next person. If you think you are that type of demanding person, unless you want me knocking on your door to put you in chains then do not act like you own me just because you put money down on a product. You will not even own the product until I deliver it. If you treat me badly expect a duplicated response from me. If you piss me off I'll piss on you~!

And while I'm at it, anything negative a person may read on another forum about me is due to that person being an (expletive) to me. I do not intentionally start out treating anyone badly. But once pushed that person ruins my day and can expect the same in return."

I think we now know what Francis from Stripes did after being discharged.

Crazy story! But if you're in Massachusetts why not just got to Jim Mouradian?

Mouradian is north of Boston and I'm south about halfway between Boston and Cape Cod. Mouradian is too far out of the way. Also, for the past 4 years Mouradian's website has been "Under Construction". If the guy doesn't have enough time to put up a decent site, I really don't have much confidence that he could get my bass done in a timely manner either. I went to Guitar Doctor in Whitman, Ma. and they did a great job.

Ironically some of the best repair techs in this industry either don't have a website or just a one page intro. Don't confuse marketing with ability. If your reputation precedes you then you actually don't need or want to advertise.

+1

Web sites cost money and time.
If your word of mouth reputation is good enough that you have more work than you can handle why spend the money and time?

When was the last time you saw a big two page ad for Ferrari in a auto magazine?

Thanks! She plays even better than she looks. I still wonder about the Vampyre LTD that I could have bought. They are very hard to find in the color I'd want (blood red or turquoise) but I wasn't about to do a deal with the Buzzard Devil to get it. Maybe someday I'll get one, just will have to be from someone else.
And an update on my quest for a blood red Warwick Vampyre Ltd. that I originally found at Buzzard Bass but wasn't about to buy from his store based on his reputation for treating customers poorly.
I found one at another dealer and snapped it up at a great price. Here's a pic...

It's a shame he's such an intolerable person, he could have had my business but at this point its his loss not mine.
