Cab advice

So my peavey 4x10 just recentley died,and im looking for a new cab. My budget is around 800USD and I wanna buy used to get better quality for my money.

I mostly play metal/deathcore and kinda narrowed it down to either an 8x10 or 4x12. Im not that sure what would be better for me and its kinda hard to test some out because the nearest music store is 50 miles away. So any help is appreciated.

Holy smoke. It sounds like you need to move a bunch of air. Maybe you should consider a couple of 410's. Then if you only need one, you can save your back. 412's are killer, but, like an 810, heavy. Too bad that you don't have PA support

IME, (2) 410s does anything BUT "save your back" - a single larger cab typically means less lifting, as they tend to load by the "tilt and slide" method, whereas 410s always have to be dead lifted, and usually weigh around 100lbs... Also, (2) 410s means twice as many trips... For me, one single large cab is a better solution...

Lastly - I ALWAYS have very good PA support - but I play in a loud 2 guitar band, so a single 410 just won't cut it *for me*...

To the OP - SWR's Goliath Sr(610) or Megoliath(810) can be had used - but in good condition - for around that price... either one of those should work out well for you, if you push them with a good amp... IME, both work really well with G-K's 700rb-II, and that's a rig that'll get more than loud enough for any gigging needs, and sounds great for the type of music you're playing...

+1 I have done the 410 410 thing....Big pain in the @$$ like Georgestrings said... I do have an 810 which is alot easier to move unless you have a ton of stairs....but then again....the good thing about that is your band mates will never expect you to move it by your self!!... Now all that being said I am upgrading here to a fEARful 1515/66/1 which is about the same size as an 810 and only weighs in at 90lbs...so about half the weight Plus when the 810 is reaching its limits the 1515/66/1 will just be getting warmed up

BTW... a peavey 412....BIG Heavy Square Box from HELL!!!

Which head are you using? How many watts? ohms?

A couple of stacked 2x12's may do it for you.

I suggest adding some insulation to it if doesn't have any(if you keep it).

Need to know more about your amp, bass, style, etc. (note: metal/deathcore doesn't tell me whether you play with a pick, whether you use a big bloomy bottom scooped tone or an aggressive tone, etc.). Sound samples helps.
