Cab Decision

Hi, i play mostly jazz and funk music however i dabble in hip hop as well.
I plan to buy the newly released Acoustic head, and shortly after (when my funds recover) one of the cabs that match.

I could either get a 4x10 or a 1x15.
Based on the styles of music i play, which would make more sense?

Ya i figured that but i also figured that the 1x15 would pack more low end punch which is crucial to funk and hip hop, so i'm still not sure.

It's not a question of if the 1x15 has more lowend, but if the 4x10 has enough. And in most cases, the answer is "yes". If the Acoustic 4x10's are anything like every other 4x10 cab out there, you'll get more volume, better definition, and better punch out of it than the 1x15.

Nice rig! I'd like to try one of those cabs.

other options -
215, or a 410 with a 115 or 118 under it.

Peoples definition of low end seems to vary widely. If you want midbass to hit you in the chest and teeth...10's will be fine (if not prefered for their snap). But for deep floorshaking stuff you'll need a big rig and loud amp, no way around it --- in my experience anyway. Though there is ACME... bgavins plot of the avatar neo 410 also looks pretty meaty at around 60hz.

Also with taller cabs -- gets the sound nearer your ears and less hassle than two cabs to move around (at least, only one trip to the vehicle on load in).

Or you could just go with 12's and forget it...

:D
