Cabronita Cantina

Nope...what I did, did not work. I don't know what is up. I'm going to have to re-wire it...bummer.

On a sweeter note...i got my decal from rothko. It took a while for it to arrive from the UK to cali, but I have to say it is very well made. The gold is nice and shiny, not yellow and fake. The size is small guitar like size...but whatever, I'll make it work.

Nice decal!

Hope you get the wiring figured out and hope I didn't give you the wrong wiring info. When purchasing the TV Jones Thunderblade did you order the bridge or neck pickup?

Some down & dirty quick pics.

First, a big thanks to God's Fav BP who so graciously allowed me to outright steal his aesthetic, copious use of pearloid to really bring out the most of the CAR finish. It was his pic that knocked me over the Cabronita fence. If that wasn't enough, he also provided a good home for the replaced OEM tuners and bridge.

Second, a special thanks to Brad [BeeTL] who provided invaluable info on drilling the string ferrules.

Third, a nod to all the Cab owners who started the itch that just needed to be scratched.

i guess for a halloween art show we will be building a diy guitar picks "cabronita" with an orange stained bass wood body, a maple neck, a fidelitron pickup, and a pumpkin medallion in the oval at the end of the headstock(not sure what to do with the pickguard situation, but the bass above looks sweet with that little tortoise shell one)

Thanks God's Fave! This just in....I had to put a little piece of electrical tape where I rest my thumb on the pickup to avoid the buzz. A rewiring REALLY helped ease the buzz...but whenever I touched the "rails", the signal buzzed. I'm going to paint the bass, so once it's finished I'm going to ground the crap out of it. Let's hope I don't have anymore buzz out of it.

I don't generally use a pick but had to play with some guys where it was needed and I stuck it in the rout above the pickup and used it as a thumb rest that day. I'll try it again if I get a mystery hum...good luck.

Polepieces usually do buzz when you touch them. It's not because the pickup is 'broken'. This also happens on Fender P & J pickups. With the filtertron style raised pole screws, you're going to notice it more. Connecting the poles/magnet to ground can eliminate this

Ahhh,... true about humbuckers. It makes sense that they would already be grounded to the plate.

As regards Fender style single coils, I've grounded about half a dozen P and J pickups with a piece of foil across the bottom of the magnets. It works every time! It's not a bare coil issue.

I got the bridge pickup. Actually your wiring was fine, but my brother did re-wire it...but we are definitely missing something...either some wire is touching the cavity that has shielding paint, or the pickup cavity needs a good once over with copper shielding tape...or maybe the jack. I did put an elektrosocket were the walls of the input jack are pretty narrow and thought the cable tip was touching somewhere and causing the slight buzz..but then I lined it with electrical tape and it didn't help. The buzz is very slight and mild, and it's only when I rest my thumb on the pickup and I touch either rails. It's weird. I'm going to paint it soon so there is no need to mess with it until I get it back.
