Cabs in America

Hello everyone! I am getting to the point of upgrading my cabinets. I’m usually playing with (3) guitarists/loud drummer/keyboardist/(2) vox and we are covering any/all 1960’s-current rock/reggae/punk/soul/country. Currently, my main rig setup is active or passive bass ===> pedal board often with hairy-overdrive/distortion ===> Mesa WD800 ===> (2) Hartke HD210.

Specifically, I am looking for American constructed (2) cabs to stack vertically and I am undecided on what to spend my money on. From the following list, I have not played through any but, I have heard the Mesa’s live on a couple of occasions being used by others in medium sized venues.

I guess, ideally, I am asking for a comparison of the Hartke’s I am using with any of the cabs listed if there’s anyone with that specific knowledge. Any feedback on any of these would be appreciated, though.

Anyway, here’s what I’m considering buying a pair (2X) of:
Trickfish TF212
Rev Sound RS212XT
Genzler Nu Classic 212T
Genzler Magellan 212T
Mesa SW 210
Gallien-Krueger NEO IV 212
Subway 212

If you are cool with (2) 1x12"- 4 Ohm/700

Baer ML112 V2 35lbs
$839 Direct CA, USA

These are mine...

1 X 12" (ported) + 1 x 6"(sealed)...really nice!

Good luck!

I know this is not about counting votes, but I chalk up another one for Revsound. Great company, super nice guy who builds them and extremely helpful in pairing you with cabinets that will suit your needs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone say they didn’t like the sound of revsound cabinets, they’re super light and very affordable compared to some of the other stuff.

With impeccable punctuation and sentence structure he’s implying that your reading comprehension has great potential which has yet to be achieved, likely due to you skipping much of the thread where he clearly states his aversion to the popular Mesa cabs.

So you don’t have to go read it all: he wants to put a non-Mesa set of cabs under his Mesa head, not due to having tried and disliked Mesa cabs, but just for funsies.

Bergantino ... just sayin!

I saw that and recommended GK.

I'm sure everyone has their favorites for reasons that range from their tone goals to their gigging needs. I have had great success with Mesa SW (and PH), Bergantino, GK Neo, and AudioKinesis cabs. I currently own something(s) from each brand. My AK C112T is perhaps the most amazingly versatile of the bunch, the Berg CN212 is just quality in tone from top to bottom, the GK Neo 112 II's hit hard and are very articulate, and my SW112 and 115 make an amazing big rig that's easy to carry and set up. While I like the rock and roll voice of my Mesa PH cabs (two 212's and a 410) their weight and size keeps them home most of the time.

Yes, I have considered it :D
I have a Subway 2x15. Very loud great sounding cab. Two stacked vertically would fill a stage so well. My single 2x15 is almost as loud as an Ampeg fridge… maybe as loud? If I was doing big shows more often I would get another Mesa Subway 2x15.

I've played on a bunch of cabs, and IMHO there is nothing better than the Greenboy Fearless F112
It's a chambered 12"/6"/1" cabinet, an enormous amount of research went into these (much on this forum) and they are as close to perfect as I've found.

Scabby Road is my builder. Expect to spend ~ $1100+shipping.

As US made as it gets. Built by one guy, in a workshop in PA.

You could run 2, but frankly, I don't think there's much reason. Anything that requires more power than one of these puts out, should be going through a PA anyways.

<edit> more info as I know there's not much on Scabby Road's site

Mesa was not always the obvious choice in the past and aside from Ampeg GKs have always delivered in a variety of genres and they are still here today . The very fact that you are considering others means that Mesa may not be you are looking for. For guitar amps, I am a Mesa fanboy. But when it came time to upgrade my setup, I preferred Acoustic Image for Amps and EA for cabs. If I am not playing double bass also, I may actually consider Bergantino. I was able to compare it a B|amp versus the TT and D-800 plus both on a Subway 1X15 and Bergantino ref 112 and I really love what their amps and cabs sound.

If it was me, I'll go with GK based on your list. They have an awesome time tested bass oriented tone stack and their cabs are reliable. Bass amplification if what they mostly do and had been doing it for a while.
The new GK cabs do look sweet, They posted that they do have some in stock on their FB page
