Cabs in America

Yup, that’s the intent of the thread. As there is little information on YouTube and no cabs available to sample, the hope is that this community (TB) will actually produce some valuable insight into the peculiarities and differences of those cabs that are listed as opposed to, “just go get yourself some Aguilar or Mesa gear and you’ll thank me later”.
If you go over to the official subway thread there are descriptions of the cabs there.

Thank you for taking the time and giving some perspective.

Yes, I am right there with you and your Hartke perspective. They’re decent and I started using them as I was right at about, “above beginner level”.

I had an Eden 210XLT that I really thought sounded glorious aside from the intermittent *POP* noise it would make. Obviously, those are no longer an option for purchasing new or for customer support should the need arise.
Edens were good cabs in the 90s and 2000s, but I think they lost focus as tastes in cabs changed. They're heavy and sound scooped to me, which is the opposite of a modern cab.

The thing I like about Genzler is that they have a good bit of midrange like the mesas do, and I love the slanted idea.

How do they get away with being significantly more affordable? I’m not doubting the quality but I do tend to find, “you get what you pay for”. If tone/volume/build quality are premium at those prices, what is the diminishing factor? Maybe I just have not spent enough time on the website and am misinterpreting the pricing.
The quality is fine but they aren't as light as some others. I have an SB-112 and it's a very solid cab. It's a bigger ported box so it has a 115 vibe to it. He uses very good speakers also.

Mesa was not always the obvious choice in the past and aside from Ampeg GKs have always delivered in a variety of genres and they are still here today . The very fact that you are considering others means that Mesa may not be you are looking for. For guitar amps, I am a Mesa fanboy. But when it came time to upgrade my setup, I preferred Acoustic Image for Amps and EA for cabs. If I am not playing double bass also, I may actually consider Bergantino. I was able to compare it a B|amp versus the TT and D-800 plus both on a Subway 1X15 and Bergantino ref 112 and I really love what their amps and cabs sound.

If it was me, I'll go with GK based on your list. They have an awesome time tested bass oriented tone stack and their cabs are reliable. Bass amplification if what they mostly do and had been doing it for a while.

I like the Eden cabs tone.

At this point in my life and hopefully for the next 15-20 years (barring catastrophe; knock-knock-knocking on wood), 50#’s and < will do fine for my needs. If the tone is appealing and the cab has longevity, I’ll be satisfied.

Hello everyone! I am getting to the point of upgrading my cabinets. I’m usually playing with (3) guitarists/loud drummer/keyboardist/(2) vox and we are covering any/all 1960’s-current rock/reggae/punk/soul/country. Currently, my main rig setup is active or passive bass ===> pedal board often with hairy-overdrive/distortion ===> Mesa WD800 ===> (2) Hartke HD210.

Specifically, I am looking for American constructed (2) cabs to stack vertically and I am undecided on what to spend my money on. From the following list, I have not played through any but, I have heard the Mesa’s live on a couple of occasions being used by others in medium sized venues.

I guess, ideally, I am asking for a comparison of the Hartke’s I am using with any of the cabs listed if there’s anyone with that specific knowledge. Any feedback on any of these would be appreciated, though.

Anyway, here’s what I’m considering buying a pair (2X) of:
Trickfish TF212
Rev Sound RS212XT
Genzler Nu Classic 212T
Genzler Magellan 212T
Mesa SW 210
Gallien-Krueger NEO IV 212
You should consider Schroeder cabs, they are amazing. I have a 212PL 1000 Watts and it's very capable of keeping up with rest of band easily

I may. That brings me back to Genzler, Revsound and Trickfish…
Other than listening to YouTube demos, I was hoping to hear how they compare to Mesa, GK and other common manufacturers.
There was a good video kicking around that had good representations of many cabs, I think it was focused on 112 cabs. But what I took away was how good the Genzler cab sounded. If I find it I'll post the link.

I play a P-bass through an Eden Traveler head and Epifani UL 1 12". Also have an Epifani 4 10" cab, and both of them speak loud and clear. Speaking just for me, this is the rig I was looking for for 35 years. Finally found that sound, just as my career was winding down. Still - what a pleasure to play and hear my ideal rig. I highly recommend the Epifani cabs.

Come on, people! A simple search on "cabs in America" will yield plenty of results.
