Cabs with high range.

Have you looked into guitar cabinets at all? Obviously not your typical Marshall or anything like that would work, but I've got a JBL MR812 guitar cabinet that is about as fullrange as I've ever heard from a guitar box. The bottom end isn't like an Accugroove, but it works great down to low G at very decent volumes. They handle 300 watts, 1x12, about 40 pounds or so. Sounds much brighter than my other cabinets with their tweeters off.

If you do go with some kind of two amp arrangement, something to consider is that you don't need as much power for the higher range, than you do in the lower registers.

Also, I think it also depends on whether you want purely clean settings on both the upper and lower. Or distorted high end and clean lows.

I think it would be cool it you could come up with a setup that had progressively less distorted lows as you went down in register for an instrument like that. Maybe wishful thinking though.

The "VL" series EA cabs sound great in these type applications and are available on the used market.

As a distortion player, I'm very interested in this thread. But a soft dome tweeter is not an option.

Why? Are you allergic to soft domes?

FYI the Acme 10's only play up to 1K without a tweeter.

They reach closer to 10kHz without the tweeter, the 5" mid goes amazingly high on its own.

A pair of Acme Low-B2 cabs (or Low-B1s if you don't need to go all that loud) and a stereo power amp would do a fine job.
