CAD/CNC Tips & Tricks

A few hybrid (traditional hand/CNC assist) operations I did back in January:

Nice work! I often make brass or aluminum nuts that way, first using a small V-bit in the milling machine to roughly cut the slots, getting their positions accurate. Then hand file the slots to width and depth, and hand file the top shape. Those operations wouldn't be worth the trouble to do on a mill or a CNC. They are faster to do by hand.

And those aluminum inlays are very clean and professional looking. Now that's a job that a CNC machine can do very well.

Yes, and doing it by hand was so satisfying.
At this point I only use my CNC for pockets, cavities and some perimeter cuts. The rest is fun and by hand.
