Personally I think the Moog is too subtle as a straight filter, but that's just me. It's got some cool sounds but it's also a bit limited (no down sweep, only low pass etc). Still, THE best pedal for dub and sweeping electronica sounds IMO. I don't even mind the bypass. at seem to be the most personal in terms of what sounds good to you.

I might be just you Actually for me the moog works the best out of every other filter I've use as a straight filter with my main bass, I don't find it subtle at all but that is just me. I agree with you on it for dub and sweeping electronica sounds. But I hate the bypass, it really messes up my signal. Some day when I go back to a bigger board I plan on making up a odd loop - EXP type of box to control the thing.

-Barge Grinder, Love it, very tweakable
-Pigtronix EP-1, love it, envelope phase heaven
-EHX Q-tron+ old version, love it, just got it, diggin' the mix option
-Subdecay Prometheus, otw!

Edit:
Have had the prometheus for a few days now, very cool! The stepping is kind of like a bass murf, but after having owned a bass murf for a few years I like the prometheus much better. Oh and I just got a guyatone br-2, so far it's pretty cool, it has a very unique pop to the filter sound.
