Callowhill Basses? What do you think?

33" or 34" Not sure what to order. I really like my friends fodera thats 33" fits great but will this hinder tone both finger style and slap.

My thoughts so far:

5 string
Ash body
(top wood maybe maybe not....not sure yet)
maple/wenge/maple neck
ebony board
headstock burning
Not sure about pickups or pre

The 33" scale doesn't hinder anything in my opinion, but does sound a little different depending on how you dig in while playing....maybe lol. What type of sound you going for? I have a lot of experience with Tim's basses and the tones they produce with different pick-ups. I would suggest Nordy big splits or Nordy DCs without even knowing what you're going for honestly.:p:bassist:

I'd recognize that bass anywhere. It's on my GAS shortlist. It's a Hanewinckel Draken Signature 5. Are you having Pete build you a bass?

No, I am getting Tim to build me a Junk with that combonation of body woods. I haven't sold Pete any wood.......yet. Maybe in the future.
I am having these built at various times this year:
Callowhill Junk 5
Elrick Classic Hybrid 5
Clement SC5
Nordstrand NX-BO, I am kind of excited about this one also. Carey has got some special plans for it! That's all I can say.

They will both tear your face off tone wise, both will be very lightweight (thanks to Mr. Majestics' insane supply of fairy blood swamp ash), both will balance perfectly, and both will play like a dream. If you want a bass that's different looking yet classy with a modern stlye, get an MDM. If not, get a Junk w/ pickguard. ;)

From these specs it sounds like you definitely want an MDM. Wood burning around the headstock (which is SICK on all of the MDMs I've seen) isn't an offered option on the Junks. Neither is the Wenge neck piece.

I also suggest an Aguilar OPB-3 w/ Passive Tone and Act/Pass push/pull knob to go with the big splits (ask tim about the original pick-up spacing for the MDMs too. Judging from your gear, you'd LOVE the tonal qualities of that spacing). I also suggest a simple olive wood top with ebony headstock laminate and playing ramp. Think it over ;)

Awesome, I look forward to seeing it come togther. I love the headstock burnings, I would get some on the Junk if it were offered! We will have the same pu/pre combonation.
I notice you are in Katy,Texas. Will you be at the guitar show this weekend?
