Can a new/different bass re-ignite the "passion?"

Yes you do...I have had mine for over 5 years and I haven't looked at other amps since then..I cant live without the aux input..its pretty awesome
absolutely! I wouldn't buy a amp combo w/o aux input, just need to to start shopping for a I pod. Grandkids should love it too.
Right on. Researching those pods as we speak, lots of favorite jams I want put on one-gotta keep what little chops I got left.Sorry my bad! An Ipad/IPhone(not POD) is all I use
Often a really good gig or personal performance is all it takes to remind me how fun this is.
I have had a few times where a new piece of gear reignites the passion. This was primarily due to finding something that brought something new to the table.
-First was my first Jazz Bass. I was a P player for years, but the more defined and scooped J tone really hit home. It sent me off for several years.
-Second was when I decided to add 5 string to the mix, a Deluxe Jazz V was the no brainer choice. It's my desert island bass. Every time I play it I feel good.
-Using flatwounds gave me a fun experience. I never played them in the past, now I 'get' them. I keep 2 basses strung with flats now.
-Lately what has brought some extra kick to playing are my Peavey Foundations. 84 fretted and 85 fretless. Got into Foundations when I wanted a dedicated flatwound Jazz bass and a fretless Jazz bass. These are bargains and do the job just as well, if not better. I have a ball playing these.
-My Markbass CMD121P combo and TC BH250 head have made hauling around an amp way less work and allows me to have one or two less problematic issues per gig. The built in effects and tuner on the TC saves me a pedalboard, too!
