Do any other bassists here play in a band of guitar glory hogs? Or am I the only one? The lead guitarist in the band I'm in jumps right in and tries to "hog" any opening. He say's,"Bass doesn't need to stand out,it just needs to keep a rythym." I disagree. I hope some of you do also. He thinks that I should play about 4 different notes on a 4 or 8 count through the whole song. Tragically,he's the best guitarist in my region,and don't want to just up and leave. Any suggestions on how I can get through his head that there is so much more to bass? Any comments appreciated,thank you. Luke
explain to him that if you don't get room for some soloing, you'll quit. everyone in a band needs to be happy with what's going on. he's being childish, and he needs to be told about it.
