Can someone explain this ?????

I've never found a good deal on Reverb, but it's a good reference website. Their shipping charges are in fantasyland.

Three acts of stupidity or lack of shame going on here-- First, the person who was braindead enough to do this, second the person who even has enough gall to list it especially at that price, and third, the poor dummy who will actually buy that boat paddle thinking they can repair it. What a disgusting piece of equipment!

Pathetic on all counts.

For reference, I saw an ad for a neck listed recently, described as a "'78 Fender maple fretless neck w/ hardware, in fantastic condition" for $1299... and, it's already been marked down once. ;) It does look very good in the pics, certainly no burn damage. Granted, it's fretless, but...

(no affiliation)

In any event, $800 for a damaged 1982 neck is insane, IMO.

He wants $800 just for that neck? It's a 1982 neck, not 1952. I personally wouldn't give him $800 for it if it came with a body and everything worked.

I've honestly gotten close to this with my old maple board Precision when I was purposefully not wiping down my flats afterwards, though my wear was much more even. Once I got through the finish the browning/blackening effect built up quite quickly if I didn't wipe down or clean the fingerboard. But this is curious indeed. Only playing blues in F and Bb?

Imagine if a boutique builder had a piece of maple or other light colored wood available for use as a fingerboard with those markings...but nature made. A few of us would be falling all over ourselves to reserve that piece of lumber for our build.

Here is a new photo he just posted after I questioned about what happened?

He sent me 2 messages about what happened to the neck:

discoloration looks like maybe some of the lacquer melted though I’m not 100% as this is how I got it. It never bothered me but maybe some cleaner or light sanding could fix it.
Thanks for your interest,

Maybe a cigarette. Personally I like a worn look and this bass plays great so I just left it alone. I took another picture, please check it out.
