Can the 9 volt lick test kill you?

Been licking batteries for years. I'm still ok, I think . There are many more harmful household substances to put your mouth on than batteries.

My electronics teacher taught us to never touch anything with our LEFT hand if your in an uncertain electrical predicament. By doing so you are directing current across your heart. He made a point of putting his left hand behind his back like a sword fighting musketeer during demonstrations.

for physical therapy on my arm they used some electrode things that ran on ONE 9v & that thing could knock your behind with no problem at half power. so i can definitley see it killing you. but i have licked a thousand of em with no problem

Wow! And in our overly litigious society, I'd figure the warning label would be on every battery by now.

Makes a certain kind of sense, seeing how battery operated tasers keeping killing people.

It's not the battery that kills the person, it's the stepped-up voltage and proximity to their heart.

I can imagine the warning being so lengthy that it would require batteries to be sold in pairs, with "see other battery' on the first one.

I was out hiking with a buddy from college one day and we came across an electric fence the rangers had put up to keep the deer from eating a patch of trees they were trying to grow. Curious cause I'd never seen one up close, I brushed my hand against it a few times (dumb) and nothing happened. Looking closer at it, I noticed there were four metal wires, and every other one had black and red insulators on the fence posts. I told my buddy that you probably have to contact two wires, one of each color, to get zapped, and I had already used up my stupid points for the day. I was going to recommend to him to stay away from it when without warning he touched each of his forearms to different wires and wound up jumping back with a yelp. After I laughed hard for five minutes I told him that using two hands means the current went through his heart. So he had something to lose sleep over that night on top of the pain and the humiliation.
