Can we please stop using "guitard"?

Here you go

1) "guitard" implies the word "******". I don't need to explain how offensive that is. Even the term "********" is dated and offensive.

2) the guitarists I work with are talented, considerate professionals and I like them personally

3) "guitard" promotes a separateness, an otherness....an "us vs. them" vibe that just isn't good
This comes up every couple months, basically... Put on your grown up pants and get over it.

Not even for the sake of people with developmental/intellectual disabilities? Or people with children, loved ones or friends with developmental/intellectual disabilities?

I'm sure there are Talkbass members with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
So a play on words of the word r*t*rd makes you upset? I'm sorry if this comes across as offensive (which it probably will do), but get a grip. Life isn't all candy and rainbows. It's not swearing, it's not really hateful, and it won't cause wide-spread rioting.

Well then they aren't guitards. What I find offensive is someone trying to modify my behavior by telling me what I can or cannot say, enough of the pc crap. You are implying that it's used to specifically degrade those who are disabled. A little insensitive to them, sure, while we're at it lets ban the use of the word stupid as it's degrading to anyone with low intelligence. And I find your use of the term douche bag offensive to women as it refers to a necessary hygienic practice.
Yeah, I used to think like that. Then I grew up. Lose a couple good friends to your "refreshing lack of political correctness" and it tends to make you rethink if it's worth it.

I am offended by the so easily offended.

You bring up a good point. Don't you anti-PC people even dare to go there with this whining about how people are wusses for being offended by your lack of political correctness. Look how offended you all are over someone even daring to politely suggest that using terms like "dufus" isn't a good thing. YOU are as thin-skinned and easily offended as anyone offended by your offensiveness. Pot, meet kettle.
