Is this even possible? Is there anyone who builds their necks like this? I like a slimmer neck, but perhaps the string spacing of the Precision nut suits me better than the Jazz spacing?

Can you do a slim jazz bass neck with a P width nut?

You can have anything you're willing to pay for. I'm sure any custom builder will accommodate you.

On second thought, one of the finest necks I've every played was a Fender FSR Jazz bass. I don't think going with a precision width would make it better.

Classic 50's Precisions have wide nut widths (mine is actually a hair over 1 3/4") but isn't super deep front to back.
The American Pro has the 1 5/8" nut width and a '63 P rear profile, which I believe is shallower than the previous American Standards, but I'm not positive. Regardless, you might dig it.
ibanez' BTB basses seem to have this profile -- wide and thin front to back and rather flat.

Fender '62 AVRI necks are exactly what you're talking about. 1 3/4" nut but very thin, like a jazz front to back.
