Is this even possible? Is there anyone who builds their necks like this? I like a slimmer neck, but perhaps the string spacing of the Precision nut suits me better than the Jazz spacing?
I appreciate the input. On second thought, one of the finest necks I've every played was a Fender FSR Jazz bass. I don't think going with a precision width would make it better.
Classic 50's Precisions have wide nut widths (mine is actually a hair over 1 3/4") but isn't super deep front to back.
The American Pro has the 1 5/8" nut width and a '63 P rear profile, which I believe is shallower than the previous American Standards, but I'm not positive. Regardless, you might dig it.
It just so happens Warmoth just sent me one. Interested in buying it? Otherwise I'm going to replace the nut. Maple/Maple, slim taper, steel rods. PM me. {} {}
ibanez' BTB basses seem to have this profile -- wide and thin front to back and rather flat. How much fingerboard radius do you want?
Fender '62 AVRI necks are exactly what you're talking about. 1 3/4" nut but very thin, like a jazz front to back.
