Can you remove colored thread from bass strings?

I was looking into bass strings for a SS bass I’m looking to get in the next month or so and the only one I could find were:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000K669LS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_89VECbB1RRVEV

The strings have blue thread wrapped around the ends of the strings. They would work fine but the bass I’m going be getting is red with gold accessories. Not a good color mix with blue.

So my question here is can you some how remove the blue off these strings?

In case you still don’t understand what I’m saying here’s a pic of the strings with the blue.

Contact Jason (SlapinFunk) at Fretnation.com. I'm sure that he can give you all the different options that are available in SS strings, and he'll even be able to tell you what's available with red, gold, or black silks.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who's bothered by certain silk colors clashing badly with the color scheme of the bass. ;)

I once had a set of stings with bright green silk on my sunburst/tort/rosewood P bass and they looked rather hideous (to my eyes at least).

I taped off the wraps, sprayed the silks with black spray paint once. It worked surprisingly well. That was twenty years ago. Now, I just deal with it. My GHS Precisions on my orange Gretsch remind me of a jester.

As for those wraps, maybe a razor blade and a little surgery will take care of it while keeping it neat.

The SHORT SCALE Boomers have gold silk, not red.

When we changed the winding length, I changed the silk color to red (never understood why Boomers would be any color other than red, but here we are). Did the same with the other short scale sets that didn’t match their long scale brothers.

That said, there are still some short scale sets that probably still have gold silk, as they’re not quick movers.

'94 Gretsch G6119B.JPG Personally? Yeah, it's... nice... if the silk colors go well with the bass; but, I'm not about to put strings on any of my basses just because they do. TONE comes first; last; and always, AFAIC. Looking "stylish" is pretty far down on my priority list. Although... I am about to transfer a set of Fender 9250 flats onto my Gretsch Broadkaster. If they sound like I think they'll sound? Then they'll stay. If not? Well, they'll have to come off. I'd be a little sad; with the Fender's bright green silks, it would be kinda nice to have a Carrot Bass...
