i-84 on New Years Eve. Hmm, I wonder what Deadman's Pass looks like right now...A band member booked a friend of his wedding on New Year's Eve, in Portland a few months ago. Didn't check to see if I was available, just booked it, for $500 as far as I know. We are in the Boise area.
To be honest I was surprised when this was not the response I got when I let him know.Priorities not even question here. They have a month, call a sub.
Even though I had technically "committed", yeah I'd be lying if I said road conditions weren't a factor.i-84 on New Years Eve. Hmm, I wonder what Deadman's Pass looks like right now...

Family first. Good call.
There is only one kind of gig that pays better than a wedding and that's a NYE gig! But BOTH!
Yes logistics. That is something this guy has no concept of. Most gigs he walks up to the stage and plugs his acoustic guitar into a DI. (Belonging to either me or the house)The logistics of it all scare the crap out of me. You'll have to fly there, and if you don't have a red-eye for the trip home, or a place to crash, you're out for a hotel room too.
Good luck even getting a hotel room on NYE. They're either fully booked or the price is so high no one bothers.
I guess you might be able to find a dirtbag motel someplace.
Yeah and hope my PA, upright & electric, bass rig, cords/mics etc. make it through the night in the back of my truck with a camper shell and huge windows parked at some hourly hotel.I guess you might be able to find a dirtbag motel someplace.
