Canned from the praise band

To the OP, sorry for the way you were ousted from the former team...and glad to know another door has opened. Too many churches have weirdness that give the whole faith a bad name. I count among my friends many who turned from their faith because of things done and said by "church folk". But good churches and good church people do exist, and there is somewhere you can use your gift. Pray and be led by the Spirit...

Note: no perfect church exists. As long as there's humans in it, the flaws come with. But the flaws give us a chance to practice dishing out grace. :D

I was just now told that I'm serving the devil by staying with my wife and that our friendship is over.

Oh, don't even get my started on the hypocrisy I've seen from the overly-pious. So instead of trying to provide help, they turn their back on you (and by extension, your wife) and send you away? That's not a very Christian thing to do, IMO - if they're that bent out of shape with your wife missing church for a perfectly valid reason, there's nothing keeping them or the pastor from visiting your home and ministering to her personally, right? Or offering help with whatever perceived spiritual warfare issues there may be? You're better off with a praise group that actually adheres to the tenets of the faith they keep.

Okay, I'm backing off - it's just this kind of thing *really* grinds my gears.

Wow. Thats a broad, and for the most part, un-true and unfair statement. That's why I try to avoid threads that have "praise" or anything to do with church because no matter the circumstance, they can turn out like this.. And truly, I'm sorry you feel that way. I myself am a Christian and so are many people here on this thread. Like it has been said before nobody's perfect, however, I'm pretty sure most of us don't "suck"; it's the ones that get on TV and preach from their homemade - "doctored up" "bibles" or have threads written about them that usually do. I dont think they can be considered Christians, but who am I?

Again I'm sorry you feel that way but I don't like to be insulted solely based on what my beliefs are and Who my faith is in.

*falls off of matchbox*

I was all "tongue-in-cheek" there. I'm a Christian, greatly fallen, greatly flawed. Sorry I misled you into believing my post was a disrespect.

I'll probably burn in hell anyway.

Maybe you just aren't "praisy" enough? Theological differences? Whatever, if this is the whole story, it sure is rude and insensitive for those nice Christian folk to dismiss you without a thank-you, and a reasonable explanation.
I'd ask for more of an explanation so you can work on whatever the issue is/was.
Not in the sense of rejoining--but in the sense of your own personal growth--and their accountability.

Well I have an update from the BL.
I was just now told that I'm serving the devil by staying with my wife and that our friendship is over. Also, they don't think I could hang with the bigger gigs.
All I know is that for as long as I've been playing bass, I've wanted to be playing on the big stage and doing studio work. I take pride in my bass playing by making the song sound the best it can be.
So to the BL get over yourself, it's your loss.

Lol my girlfriends mom thinks I'm the devil because I'm actually intelligent against crap like this. "Serving the devil"? Dude, in all honesty, run like hell. Away from ppl like that. That's insane

Thanks. Proof-positive that all Christians suck. It's all negative, always.

Sorry about your friend, thanks for presenting irrefutable evidence of why any faith is a dead-end. I feel educated beyond my stupidity now.

We know it's not all Christians, anyone is capable of this. The problem is however when they preach love and acceptance and then do superficial fake things like that, manipulating people to their will while binding beneath the steeple. It just drives the knife an extra inch deeper is all. (Personal experience). A close friend of mine is a Christian though and he's a great guy though so it's not everyone like I said, it just holds deeper to us.

So you feel you messed up in life, but the thing is man that every one is flawed. Don't think anyone else is perfect because that's untrue. There's no such thing as being fallen, because who is still up? No one is going To hell and we all make mistakes man. Don't let the judgemental rule your life

Ok, here's the deal. Been playing with the group for the past 6 months or so and everything's been going great. I've been friends with the keys player for 20 years who's also the band leader, BTW

I call to find out about practice and was told
"I'm glad you called, we've decided that we don't need you." Then he said something about not being on the same wavelength as the rest of the group.

Just wondering what y'all think...
not much, to be honest. If you are not on the same wave length with the rest of them( as perceived by either party), it makes sense for them to find a replacement.
