Canned from the praise band

Speaking of BS ways to get ousted from a band...

A lead guitarist in this blues band I played with tried selling me life insurance. I kept wanting more and more info and almost went along with it before I had decided not to sign up last minute. Not a week later I got a call from the band leader saying I wasn't up to par with what she was looking for in a bassist, despite four solid months of playing.

Yeah, but did she hit on your wife?;)

Wow, you're subtly jumping on their skills now...maybe they sensed this inside you and chose that they wouldn't deal with it. Thanks for bringing out the trolls fishing for Christians, though.
The only ones being criticized is the band. I AM a Christian, and have no problem saying that those folks were rude, insensitive and uncharitable ... I've said enough.

Having managed to get all the way through this thread without going anywhere near the microwave popcorn, I wish the OP had identified the denomination of this church (not the church itself); that might explain a lot. Some denominations are far more into this "ministry" and "I'm doing something for the Lord" mindset than are others, and I've had enough encounters with said mindset that I am thoroughly repelled by it because it indicates to me a smug self-righteousness and a lack of humility. If you feel led to do a thing, then do it; don't talk. Actions speak louder than labels anyway.

To the OP: before you got canned, you didn't do anything like show up at rehearsal rocking a P bass with rounds, did you, or try to slap on a Hofner?

Just found this out.
It would appear that this so called friend of mine made a pass at my wife, which she rejected.
I shouldn't have been fired for something he tried and was rejected for doing so.

In a way he did me a favor by letting me go because I'm going to be in a band whose music is more along the lines of what I like.

My wife was worried I'd be mad at her about what he tried. I'm not upset at her at all but for this dude to try something like that...now thats a lowdown move.
Makes you wonder how many former band mates he's fired in the past. ;)

Wow. Glad you never sit on a jury. SOME people who call themselves "Christian" suck, of that I have no doubt. But then, so do a lot athiests, pantheists, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Jews ... there's no religious qualification to be a douche bag.

You missed the part about me being sarcastic right there.

Isn't it fun defending yourself against attacks that are based on misinformation or misunderstanding.:roflmao:
I sure hope this thread doesn't get locked down by all the religion bashing, I'm kinda looking forward to the OPs next update!
How bout it Short-Scale, help take some non deserved heat off of Humbled and feed us another tidbit of information.

Forgot to mention it was a Pentacostal church.
I guess if I would have been slapping or tapping it might have got me out sooner. I'm playing short scales anyway so I was on thin ice with them to begin with. Lol

=content removed.
. Aww, and I was just about to commend you for behaving in a Christlike manner. - For those accusing the OP of troll-like behavior, all I can say is that dealing with band politics + church politics + family - husband and wife relationship politics + spiritual/God politics is tricky navigating on an open forum - as those with stones place them in hand - The feelings on the OPs situation are complex, add to that an old friend who may or not be guilty themselves - casting blame on ones wife to smokescreen the potential blazing of their own lack of integrity - or not - makes it a pretty personal and touchy subject.

Not to mention - I've seen it all in the church - I'll make a loooong list if you like (I'll be on it, too). -- There are legitimate reasons why this is such a divisive topic - and the church and believers are not innocent - we complicate it with our emotional reactions and claims of "troll" - even when this OP says he wants to use his talents for God.

Your first stance reflected your better heart, and it's a good reflection. "Troll" is a little more jumping on the band wagon.

This is, as unbelievable as it may seem, a true story. I thought I'd be a little depressed about getting kicked out of the band but I gotta say y'all have cheered me right up!

The funniest thing about the whole thing is I called the guitarist (who was subbing on bass) in the very band I was just in. His response was to hire me over the phone last night.

Ehhh, I think it's pretty clear that this thread is BS. Just doesn't make any sense and the OP never answers any questions about the parts that don't make sense.

The best we can do now is try to boost the quality of humor.
