Can't miss music stores in Toronto?

I guess the guys have already mentioned the usual suspects: Capsule, 12th Fret, Club Bass, etc. But if you're based in Arizona, wouldn't the stuff here be more expensive even before the 13% Harmonized Sales Tax? If you really want to make your visit unique, drop in on one of the shops that you won't find down south. One place I could think of is the F Bass shop in Hamilton. There's another shop in Montreal but its name is at the tip of my tongue.

You're certainly not going to get any deals hereit always kills me looking at the prices you guys down in the States get...
I was looking at a GK MB Fusion 500 back in November, and I was being quoted $800.00 plus tax (which puts the total at over $900.00), AND I'd have to wait for it on order!! What a friggin' deal!!
It so happens that I was heading to Miami for a vacation, and I picked it up a the Guitar Center for a grand total of $650.00there were no issues/charges bringing it back across the border either.
So, by all means, come on up and visit some of our fine music storesjust make sure to bring your camera so that you can document our outrageous prices so that you can amuse and amaze your friends back home!

Yes, I certainly do not plan on purchasing any gear in Canada, just maybe using it as an excuse to get away from the girlfriend for a while... She actually agreed to go to the Blue Jays game on Sunday, but I know she's not going to want to go look at basses...

I would have to agree regarding Steve's... pretty much the same old stuff you would find at Long and McQuade, except in my experience, much nicer people at L&M.
Last time I was in 12th Fret, they had maybe a dozen basses, mostly used and virtually no bass amplification. Still a great store for guitarists and friendly staff.
Cosmo is way out in the corn fields north of the city. Big store, very pretty, but not much of a selection, mostly one offs of various stuff.

I fully endorse the 12th Fret, Capsule Music and Paul's Boutique recommendations. Always a few super cool rarities. No need to hit the big shops like L&M or Steves if you're a veteran of the guitar shop scene. Club Bass is also very cool, although there won't be any surprises.

Dunno- Chalet Barbeque is the place for good rotisserie chicken in Montreal, with Cote St Luc coming in behind.
Steve's in Montreal is yesterday's store as well, though they always have Fenders and classic amp brands in stock.
Archambault is worth a quick look, some nice CS Fender stuff and F basses, and Ampeg and Traynor are well represented.
Haven't been to a music store yet, but the "scenery" in Toronto is unreal. There's a girl working in my hotel lobby that would probably be the hottest female in my zip code...and that's just the beginning! Oh, Niagara Falls is pretty cool too...
And just think - Toronto girls don't hold a candle to Montreal girls...

I won't be able to make it home this summer, real bummer. Hope to catch up with you next year when I finally touch base again! In the meantime do some girl watching on my behalf.

Hey, speaking of one drops, I played Jamaica Day yesterday with Tinga Stewart - lots of fun!
Rush is in Quebec city on the 10th at the Festival d'Été if that's your thing (tickets are around 75$, pricey, but you have access to all the other shows up until next sunday).
I don't know if Quebec is feasible for you, but it's also very nice to visit: lots of stuff to do and see, a lot of historical sites and the restaurants and bars are really awesome. You can't swing a cat around without hitting a decently price restaurant with a good selection of beer (very often local) nowadays. No need to go at St-Hubert

Yet another vote for Quebec - it's an easy day trip from Montreal and definitely worth the effort. The old part of the city is absolutely charming and unique in North America.

Quebec city rocks- what a party town, and the girls are just as fine, and even friendlier at first because it's a smaller place.
I ate at chalet barbeque last time i was in Montreal. It was the best rotisserie chicken i ever had.
