We were on the island when the storm came in. We had no choice but to run through the rain to the ferry, then from the ferry rock to path and so on...
For the record, Rush cancelled the show due to rain and lightning after about 2 hours yesterday.
Still was a good show though. Were you there ? There had been lightning strikes for at least 20 minutes when they stopped.
Yeah, I left a bit before they stopped, maybe half a song before or so.
It was pretty good, Geddy sounded a bit weird on limelight and one of Alex' solo was a bit odd early in the show. But that's pretty much details. Good show. We still got like what? Close to 2 hours of music?
It's been a good festival so far. I went every night so far except Sunday.
One step out of the car in Montreal and I almost got into a scrap with a Montreal cab driver... should be a fun 4 days!
Did you forget to tip him? They can be pretty touchy- they earn a lousy living as there are too many on the road- typical corruption shenanigans, unfortunately one of the less likable aspects of life in Montreal and the province of Quebec.
I can think of worst, like the "clogs" in Quebec's healthcare system.
But we have damn fine beers.
No, we were in a private car and apparently parked in "his" spot, he was definitely North African. My girlfriend speaks French (not Quebec French) and was trying to talk to him, but he just kept yelling at me (who speaks no French and goes about 6'1" 230 with full sleeves). I imagine he was trying to provoke me.
Montreal cabs are scary. I remember being in one where literally every warning light on the dashboard was lot up.
Went to Moog today. Amazing place, and Andrew is a great guy to talk bass gear with (great chops too). No one in Toronto has a Lull T-Bird (that I know of), and that alone made Moog Montreal worth the trip.
Overall the Montreal locations for both Moog and Steve's are much nicer than their Toronto counterparts.
Yeah yeah, Andrew is the man and you played a Lullbird, but how was the smoked meat? Priorities, my friend.
This was more of a basses-and-poutine trip, I plan on making the next one more of an amps-and-smoked meat affair.
