Can't miss music stores in Toronto?

So, I am starting a LONG-Overdue and much needed vacation tomorrow and will be in Canada for the next twelve days. We start our trip in Toronto and I was wondering if there were any great music stores that I should check out while I am there. I will also be going to Montreal later in the week. Let me know if you have any recomendations.

In Toronto there's Clubbass, in Montreal there's Steve and italmelodie. You can also check Lutherie MF in Montreal.

Go eat a smokedmeat at Schwartz and drink some Dieu du Ciel at the brewery while you're in Montreal.

The best pedal/effects selection in Montreal is Moog Audio on Saint-Laurent street. Steve's is more centrally located than Italmelodie but I prefer the selection at Italmelodie. I wouldn't, however, suggest that either of those locations are "can't miss". It's a shame that you'll be missing the Jazz Festival here as its quite an incredible event. You should, however, be able to catch some of the Nuits D'Afrique festival:

It's just up the street from Moog Audio so you might as well kill two birds with one stone. ;)

Having a smoked meat at Schwartz and popping over to Moog to talk bass with Andrew (droskobass here) at Moog is probably as good an hour or so you can spend, especially in summer when all the ladies are out showing off their hot Montreal bods.

Wander over to the mountain afterwards and spend some time looking out over the city.

In TO Capsule Music is a top little shop as well.

I just got this week's Toronto.com update. Lots of cool things and concerts to check out. Rush is playing in Hamilton on July 6th but it's sold out unless somebody turns in tickets.

Yeah, be careful if you're visiting Montreal with your wife. If you don't already have a "wandering eye" you will most likely quickly develop one during your visit. :D

"Can't miss music stores in Toronto?" Steve's? Really???

You guys would actually recommend someone from outta town make a special effort to go there? Every time I've been in over the years I've been thoroughly unimpressed with the staff and fairly generic stock. I'd actually go out of my way not to spend my money there. Unless the OP thinks going into a Guitar Center is a big deal chances are he won't be especially thrilled by Steve's.

I feel I should add that Cosmo, while being a largish music store, is well outside of Toronto, a good 30-45 minute drive from downtown (more in rush hour). They do sometimes carry Suhr basses, F-Bass and some Fender custom shop stuff, but it is a long way out if you are coming from downtown or even anywhere south of the 401.

The Twelfth Fret is primarily a guitar store, with a smaller bass inventory. Their focus is on electric and acoustic 6 string instruments (in general). That's why I didn't include them in my list above. But it is a great store and staff.
