Fender, Gibson, Dunlop, Ernie Ball, Martin, Music Nomad, Godin, Planet Waves, GHS, Peavey and many others offer guitar polishes. Take your pick. I happen to like the Music Nomad products, but that's just my preference.

I use mothers too!!!...paste type...its 100% Carnuba wax...but when I apply to a new bass I always use it in an inconspicuous place first...I've never had issues !!

I've used 100% Carnuba wax and it's quite nice. I have a can of "slipstream" wax that is sold for aircraft! (gives your bass an increase in airspeed)

But I have only used commercial guitar polishes listed for nitro finishes on my nitro instruments. They are VERY sensitive to things and make me paraonid.

Let me add that you have to make sure that polishes don't contain silicones. They will polish fine but will seep into the finish and wood and make the instrument virtually impossible to ever refinish! I've got a couple of junkers that will never be refinished that I keep in shape with a silicone rod and reel rag, but you wouldn't want to do that with anything expensive or rare.
