Carbon fiber neck build

@1n3 It's actually not that bad to work with
It can be very sharp, but I've had no issues with splinters so far (last famous words)
Depending on the resin you’re using, the main problem I had with splinters was they were relatively inert. Once embedded in my finger, they didn’t fester. I had to take them out manually.

long overdue update...
just been too busy with work
also been chasing my own tail on how to best continue

anyways... after making sure everything fit as good as I could get it, going over everything, including the trussrod channel I finally found time and courage to glue this sucker up today

I mixed a small batch of epoxy and thickened it with fumed silica to a nice paste and gave all the mating surfaces a good coat and dropped the neck onto the trussrod-board
It's very lightly clamped as there's no force needed to keep things in place
I glued it up "upside down" as to make gravity work for me, so the epoxy will run down onto the joint instead of into the neck cavity

Will know if I made something with structural integrity or wasted a bunch of CF in about 24 hours... fingers x-ed

I started looking into this after missing out on a Status neck before they stopped production. Keen to see how this turns out.
Anybody wanting a Stingray carbon neck, Klos are currently gathering interest on which neck replacements to be made next and they have an online form to fill out. The more people show interest, the more likely they are to produce them. The Fender necks they have already made has a Stingray-esque headstock on there too and look pretty good.

Yeah... finally an update
Told ya not to hold your breath

Upon fixing the broken mold, I found out that I did manage to get some mechanical lock into it, explaining why it released so terribly. It was very minor, but enough to act up
So been doin' a lot of sanding and fixing and sanding and bondo and, well you get the idea... Hope I got it right

Prepped everything the best I could and layed up the carbon into the mold tonight

It's in the vacuum bag now, curing
I'll let you know how it turned out tomorrow
Fingers x-ed
I want to see that Gator and maybe Miller boards you have against the wall.. love the build as well.

...my plan is to fill the headstock with a p/u foam so I can sand the top to it's final size/fit and then cover that with some layers of CF

I really wish I had time to pick this project back up, but life has been throwing some curveballs, so yeah... don't hold your breath

Can you post some pics of your neck?

Cool! I like your idea for the headstock so much than mine...

I had some cosmetic issues too, and i'm thinking about make a new one with your headstock method.. here's mine, a replica of the Modulus Flea neck.

I forum friend give me all the measurements of an original neck, and make it on SolidWorks, then ordered a 3D mold.

I never thought of getting a 3D mold. The mold is the part of this that makes me the most anxious!
