That's what I tried at first, but I didn't like how you could see the copper, it also didn't address the lack of continuity between string saddle and tube (on some strings). It really wasn't that hard, but I would expect bridge makers to realize you need continuity to properly ground strings.

Yeah I would think that too. It worked for me since this was a MM style bridge with a nice lip to hide things.

I got a reply from Nova basically agreeing that the hard anodization is not conductive and you have to scrape some off. In the exchange was a link to Strandberg where they say the same thing about their tuners. :-D Whatever, I figured it out and can now modify a tuner in about 1 minute so it's conductive, all good and I'm going to use a Nova bridge on my next build.

I got the strap locks installed, buffed and waxed up the back of the neck and put a light coat of wax on the body, giving it a clean along the way. It plays really nice and sounds great. This is my first experience with Nordstrand pickups and pre - very nice stuff. I'll probably use the same in my next build.

Fingerboard is just gorgeous. Maybe I missed this but what strings did you put on it?

They were buyer supplied (but probably what I would have put on anyway): D'Addario Nickel wound regular light. 130/100/80/65/45/32. That C is tiny.

It looks great! I've run out of positive adjectives, posting on your builds...Out of curiosity, what did you make the nut out of?
I refuse to be the guy to ask the weight.

The nut is ebony.
I don't have a scale, but it's not a heavy instrument, my ash sixer is waaaay heavier. I made the mistake of putting two truss rods in my sixer, definitely not needed and it means the neck is extra thick and heavy.

Looks awesome. I must admit I appreciate the irony that the builder who said they had no inspiration and might not join the competition, not only took 3rd place but is also getting commissions for the design

I think you picked two basses that lots of us have admired for a long time and mashed them together. Very nicely done sir

I handed off the bass yesterday, it felt a bit weird. I'm glad to send it out into the world, but you spend so much time with the instrument while building it you can't help but get a little attached.

Onto the next one - five string fretless along the lines of a Strandberg and the "effortless playability" body. I haven't drawn anything out yet.
