Well, I have Carol Kaye's learning materials, and have corresponded with her several times. IMHO, her materials are very good, and she has always been very nice to me in conversations with her.
Now, that being said, I went to that Soulful Detroit site, following the link provided. When you have guys who were actually in Detroit when these songs were recorded, and can attest to hearing the playbacks right after they were recorded-well there's no disputing that.
What I find a little interesting-forgive me if this goes a little off-is that there are no claims by her to the Jackson 5 recordings. The reason I say this, is because they were signed in LA in 1969 I believe. Now, James Jamerson is listed as playing on many of their hits, but he didn't arrive in LA until 1973, when the company moved there. So, does anybody know who played on the early Jackson 5 hits, if it wasn't Jamerson?
Again, sorry if I went a little off topic. It's just that sometimes this stuff gets a little confusing, ya know?
