Carvin BX500: Part II

received my bx500 fri,was looking forward to using it sat night but gig was cancelled.I will be running it through brx410 and brx 210just like vinx.Been playing with it all weekend tweaking the eq(with all of the eq options tweaking this head will be never ending),I am impressed with it but need to gig it and hear how it does in the mix.Good chance it will be replacing lmiii in the rack just for the fact I can run 2 4ohm cabs with it.Seems to be a cool little head!

Mike, are you running the BRX10.2 from the BRX10.4 with a speakon cable? That's what I do, because I'm really curious to hear your take on how this amp does sound in the mix with your band.

BTW, last minute cancellations really suck - don't they.:atoz:

why can't you run each cab straight from the each speakon jack on the amp individually? Why daisy chain them?

I'd have to daisy-chain my SVT because it has only one speakon output...that is if my cabs actually had speakon inputs....I got bananna jacks....:hmm:)

I've had mine for a bit now, and I have two problems with it: it occasionally broadcasts some random Latin station (depending on where in the rehearsal space it is) and the mute doesn't mute all the way. It's weird... I'm not sure if I should return it or not - I still have all the shipping materials... meh.

Other than that, it's (still) great for my needs.

You know that's what I originally did, but some people here on TB said it would be better to daisy chain them so I started doing it that way. To be honest it really doesn't matter to me which way I use them.

Im not daisey chaining,using both outputs.alone the bx500 sounds quite a bit clearer than my lmiii,notes are more audible it seems but I do like the simplicity of the b1500 and markbass.might take me a little while to dial this in.last night I thought it sounded great,this morning ,eh.I know my sound is in there!curious on how some of you set the 9 band eq? maybe you could post some pics?

While mine hasn't yet picked up any Latin radio, it does have the mute problem you describe. I have to remember to turn the thing off when switching basses (with mute active) or I'll still get a bad 'pop' thru the speakers. I suspect it's just the way the circuit is designed.

going to run the new head 3 times this weekend.fri just a little bar gig, can get a little rowdy.Early sat.evening playing a large outdoor stage downtown K.C. with good sound,kind of wondering if I should run the b1500 for this but I think Im going to see what the bx500 can do. late sat. night playing a large biker bar.I am going run the bx500 through the brx410 and brx210 for all 3. Hope it doesnt shut down,I will have lmiii close at hand!

Well let me throw this wrench in.... some of you might remember I posted about my amp having this early issues pop up after about 9 or 10 months....I've been lazy so emailed carvin on what to do finally and he told me to just ship it in with the email in the box and they basically are going to give me a new amp I just pay shipping one way. Hows that???! And I wasn't the original buyer and I still got my warranty allbeit about over now.but the warranty never came into question
