Outside stage in March ? Brrrrrrrrrrrr .

I've played my BX500 out a few times now. I'm running it through a BRX10.2 with a speakon, with an active J-bass. I'm still finding my sound on it. It's plenty loud and there are good tones in it.

My preferred setting right now is:

Drive: 7
Contour: 12 oclock
Compressor: 11 oclock
All EQ: 12 oclock
Para levels (both) -3
GEQ: off

I run the BRX at -24 db.

I've never had the master over 3 yet. That's plenty loud.

Sounds good. I've gotten a few complements on my tone so far already.

I will try it without the 9 band eq,I can't help but to try and use every feature, maybe that is a mistake! Im not real big on the compressor, probably just doesnt fit for the style of music I play.

got to use the new rig twice this weekend, vinx you are right what a great sounding, smart, versatile set-up! fri night played a small bar with a good soundman running me through the p.a. I had the volume no louder than 2,drive on 6-7, the smiley face thing on the sliders, everything else pretty much flat.It sounded fantastic! it was tight and very punchy,I didnt expect it to sound as good as it did.I got a thumbs up form the guys,my heavy hitting drummer was impressed! sat. night we ran our own p.a. on a big wooden stage in a large room,it was difficult getting a good mix(hard running sound from stage). 1st set was a little rough, kick drum was feeding back and bass was droning,no definition at all. on our break we were working on sound issues and i remembered the coupling effect, took the casters off of the cab and got it on the floor, started 2nd set, problem solved! It sounded deep and punchy again. didnt run it through the pa so I worked the rig a bit harder, it did great! I cant imagine needing any more volume than this set-up puts out! I will always keep back-up close at hand though just in case it goes into protect mode, does make me a little nervous but I'm keeping it!:)

by the way,the outdoor show downtown we opened for gretchen wilson and I got to play through I assume her bassists? eden wt950 and 2 eden 410s, very nice! she had 7 marshall stacks across the back of the stage which our guitarist didnt get to use, boohoo:bawl: weather was very nice and a large gathering. I actually broke a sweat!

Sorry I didn't get the chance to come out and see you this weekend. Just got back in town from Springfield/Branson. It was in the mid 60's there today so I was in no hurry to get home! Glad to hear the Carvin rig worked out for you! Cool opening for Gretchen Wilson, where was the show?

Glad to hear your rig worked out great for you. My guys in the band think my rig is overkill, but I really don't care what they think - they're not the bass player. The rig is totally modular and can be used in so many different ways, variations and set ups - you can't go wrong with it.:smug:
