Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 2!

I recorded a new clip with my SB5000. It's a little diff tone than I've used before so I thought I would throw it out there. All neck pickup/fingerstyle in passive mode. I kind of wish I would have rolled back the tone a hair to get a little more vintage vibe. But here it be:

The pickups on the SB5000 look smaller than the jazz V. Am I right or will the jazz pickups drop right in?

It looks like the pickups are the same size J99A for both the 4 strings and 5s, I wonder how the polls line up right if that's true???

I'm having serious GAS for an SB4000 and my head is spinning from all the customization options available from Carvin, plus all the comments on this mega-thread

Is the SB4000 body shape approximately the same size as a Fender Jazz, but with the cutaway horns flared outward? Would the SB4000 be considered "large-bodied" like the Jazz is? (or is it smaller) Is it balanced and comfortable on a strap? Is it a neck-diver?

I'm having trouble deciding on "plain maple or birdseye maple" on both the fingerboard and headstock. Any comments there? Would you go with a black or ivory nut on maple? Is it worth $20 to get a drop shadowed logo on the headstock?

Why would you want to drop in jazz pickups when the SB pickup kicka**. You can't see the poles so there may not be any under the cover, just may have a bar shape pole.

The carvin pickups are blades, so there are no poles to line up with the strings. They only make one size of the J style pickups, the Bridge and Neck pickups are the same size, and are used on their 4,5, and 6 strings. I believe the size is the same as the Fender standard 4string bridge pickup.

I've got a SB500 and here are my suggestions when ordering;

Go with active electronics
Go with the volume/volume/tone/stacked bass & treble (if you like the tone from the clips)
Don't expect the Birdseye fretboard and headstock to match
If you do Birdseye on the board have the headstock plain or Birdseye matching body color
I haven't experienced neck dive
I didn't think about nut color

They are offering a birdseye body/headstock top now? I had no idea.

I can tell you that I have a DC135 with BEM fretboard and it's one of the nicest pieces of wood I've ever seen.

Would you say the SB body is "large" like a Fender Jazz is larger than most other basses?

When un-plugged, does the bass have a good "snap" and "resonance" to it? Sustain? etc.

I'd say the body is more "petite" than a full size jazz bass. The acoustic resonance is very snappy and full at the same time.
Sounds very nice unplugged.
