1) I'll get some better pics up this weekend... Was a little confused about allowable size/resolution for photos.
2) What discriminating taste you have BigOldHarry! I don't much care for cream p'up covers in general... On this one I was going for as much dark and bright contrast as I could get (black p'up vs. white guard Deep purple body w/black edges vs bright gold hardware)

Got my SB5000 in yesterday! I was kind of nervous because this is my first jazz bass (I own spector and tobias basses), wasn't sure how I was going to like it. I must say I am VERY surprised and delighted with this bass! I went with the satin matte finish on natural swamp ash, simply top notch work.
I know several people have said it before me, but every single note can be heard evenly on this neck. Pickups are amazing. I played this at a gig I am doing for the phantom of the opera musical, and it sat perfectly in the mix. If you are debating whether or not to buy once of these basses, DO IT, you will not regret it!

Agreed! My third SB series bass just shipped out on Friday. This will be my first Rosewood Board.
Great Consistent Basses, Incredible Prices, and the ability to customize makes the Carvin SB series the best value in the bass world since you were able to get 60's Fender Basses in pawn shops for a couple hundred dollars.

Just spoke with Bart at Carvin, very nice guy. He checked and said my bass should be done in a week, but asked me to check back with him on Thursday just so he could keep on top of it. (My completion date was last Tuesday.) I told him I'd heard there was a backlog and that the buzz on the SB4000/5000/5001 is really big. He was glad to hear that, and said they have been getting a ton of orders.

I spoke with him too, VERY willing to help out. I called about the first letter on my truss cover not being capitalized, he is shipping me a new one for free. I know that is super anal, but it would just one of those things that would bug me and he was willing to help out!
just made a HUGE payment on my SB5000. I really like that Carvin will let you put down 20% and pay the rest off during the build. that's a big time help for a Grad student.

Love the black on natural motif - congrats on the awesome bass!
I wish they did exposed-pole pickups. My bass is gonna be black and unlined fretless, so maybe the all-black pickups will blend in.
Any Fretless SBers out there? Would love to hear some comments regarding tonal quality as compared to other fretless basses.. Mwah factor etc...
