New catalog just arrived in the mail. Prices went up. (I'm probably the last to find this out.) SB5000 is now $1099 before options. Red tort guard went from $15 to $30. I'm glad I ordered when I did.. the bass I paid $993 shipped for would cost $1158 at this moment, which is $158 more than I could have spent.

good to know! i'm glad i ordered mine as well.

I didn't catch that. The one I ordered that is due next week was $1093 with a few options on it. SS frets, pearloid pickguard, tusq nut, dunlop straplocks. So I guess they have gone up a bit if they are $1099 base now.

(I know this is unrelated, but I am working up a bunch of Motown tunes for a new cover band I am working with and man those guys could lay a groove. Been a while since I worked up their stuff. Digging Jamerson and Dunn right now and with the tone rolled back, the SB sounds great for that stuff as well Invalid Link Removed)

According to the website right now:

LIST PRICE: $2,199.00
DIRECT: $1,049.00
SALE: $949.00

Web special, maybe? $949 base is the price I paid.
New catalog says:
SB4000: $969 (List $2,099)
SB4001: $1,269 (List $2,799)
SB5000: $1,099 (List $2,299)
SB5001: $1,399 (List $2,999)

The Carvin catalog and the web site are often not 100% in sync...

I think that the base 4000 was $899 when it first came out... a $50 bump was already noted back in January, if memory serves...

I had a dream last night that my bass arrived, and when I opened the case, instead of the black SB5000 fretless I ordered, there was an Explorer-shaped cherry sunburst 4-string with awful inlays and some weird, moveable "pickup and a half" made from Legos.
Bart told me to call him today for an update. Hoping for good news!

LOL

You may want to take note of what you ate yesterday Dave! Stay away from what ever it was! :D

I hope that you hear that it's being boxed up for a trip to GA!
I can't wait to hear your review after spending some time with it.

that's an insane dream man...

Yeah, I woke up not happy!
The dream was, the bass arrived in the morning as I was leaving for work, so I put it in the car, but then thought I don't want it sitting in a hot car all day. So I took it back inside, opened the box and then the case, and just recoiled from it in horror. Then I ran down the hall screaming, "THIS ISN'T MY BASS!!!!"

This just keeps getting funnier...

So was it also that you felt like you were running in slow motion and the bass was somehow chasing and catching you, and if it did, you had to play it, and you couldn't return it?

OH, THE HORROR!! :D :D :D :D
