Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 4!

i'm gonna go with no on sharing the same preamp.
not sure about pickup spacing though.
It's a different preamp. I don't know what the pickup spacing is on the Icon, but the SB is supposed to have '70s jazz bass spacing.
Base price for the chambered SB5000 is now $2605 in the UK
Bet they don't sell too many here. They actually told me that they weren't selling many (SB'S) in the UK, so they were using a different marketing strategy.
It might work if people don't ever find out how cheap they are in the States.

I'm usually not a fan of basses with pointy headstocks, but his actually looks quite nice.

I love when Brian plays his piccolo basses! The dude is a phenomenal bass player but I swear to Bob above that not even the greatest guitarist could tell it was a bass without seeing it first, haha. One of my favorite songs of his too.
the only way that i like J basses with soap bar style pickups is if they are guardless with no control plate.
also these being radiused my look strange. but they may look cool too? who knows...
I dunno..An SB is a jazz style like Invalid Link Removed and some of them have soapbars...
I kinda like the "jazz on steroids" idea.
The body of the SBs shares only it's offset edge with traditional jazz basses. As far as body shapes go, I see them as two very different entities.
I called Carvin RE: the Bromberg pups and they said no - "they didn't have a routing program for that."
sounds right.
this may be an option in the future, if enough people request it, but considering how new both basses are i didn't see this being possible.
i think the next step/option for the SB5000 should be to offer it with or without a control plate...ala Sadowsky:

this NEEDS to happen in the SB model though. the guardless models would look WAY better without that control plate there and just standard knobs.
