Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 4!

Hey now.. good news! Looks like my bass is ready to go, they just needed authorization from me to charge the balance to my credit card. And I just gave it to them. He said, "we'll get this going for you" and I'll get an email with a tracking number when it ships!
Tom Petty was right. The waiting is the hardest part!

The new SB5000 has arrived :)

The new blue SB5000 is about .5 lbs light which is nice. Can tell a difference. The neck feels a little different though, maybe chunkier than mine. It also doesn't have as quality a construction feel as mine does and definitely not on par with the SB5001 one I had briefly. It does sound good though, needs some diff strings, imo. I ordered the SS again, but really didn't like them in comparison to the DRs on my other SB5000 even though they are dead.

The new blue bass has an issue though. You can't turn it off :) Even with both volumes rolled down, there is still output. Heard here:

Dang, that bass looks and sounds GREAT!

Wow, that's strange. Somehow a wire got put on the wrong lug of a pot, or, it's just a defective pot (probably more likely). I'll be very interested to hear how they service this one. Should be a pretty simple fix.

Translucent Pearl Blue. Kinda dark out of the light, but pops pretty good in the bright light.

I’ve just spent a few days reading through all of the SB roll call threads, listening to all the clips and watching all of the videos. Now I think it’s only a matter of time before I decide which options I want and pull the trigger on a SB5001. In the meantime I’ll subscribe to the thread so I can keep up to speed on everyone else’s SBs and keep the GAS fire burning. :D

So, you're saying that there is a noticeable construction quality differences between the two basses, are they identical? Same options? Don't they use machines to cut & shape the necks?
