I'm a teacher and it's graduation day for our 8th graders, but I'll do my best.
wow, kids graduating at 8th grade? a lot has changed since my school days.
seriously though, don't disappoint us.
Pure personal pref. It was just voiced all wrong for me. I only liked one of the switch settings, and it just seemed like every EQ knob I turned was a degradation in tone for my prefs. Beautifully engineered and built, but just not at all a sound-scape I like. I'll give one caveat... I'm told twiddling the caps is the key to matching that preamp with a given bass, and I didn't get the cap set with mine, so I only used it bone stock. But I figured, there's no real point in messing with one, when I'm already happy with the other stuff. Dave's a great guy, too, btw.

I forgot to mention Carey's preamp, which I also like very much. The main issue with the Sadowsky is, I'm pretty insistent on having the VTC with one of those, since the EQ is boost only, and it may be difficult to configure one with 3 knobs. Carey's Nordy preamp can be ordered custom in a LOT of different ways, and it's also a very small module, so it's another strong candidate IMHO.

Yep, that is a satin matte finish. I'm really loving it. I would recommend that on any natural wood.

Buy the bass. Girls are more impressed with musicality and ballads proclaiming your love than rims on a vehicle your buddies are going to vomit in.
I'd agree about girls being impressed by musicians, but this is bass we're talking about here. I suppose we have slightly more sex appeal than tuba players.
i may not have a ton of wisdom, but i will say this. as you get older you grow out of one of these things, at least i did.
i just ordered a carvin sb5000.
