Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 5!

Awesome! That is really close to my 5001 that is being built. I think the differences are, I went with abalone dots instead of diamonds, black hardware and a birdseye maple neck. Did you go with Alder or Ash for the body? I decided on Ash. I am still about 4 weeks out on mine and I am doing everything I can to keep my mind off of it but it is really tough!
Yeah, except ebony board. Played its "sister" at NAMM and just HAD to have one. It's actually the bass I leave out most for grabbing and practicing new tunes on a whim.

I decided I wanted that vintage 70's scheme to it with the rosewood, blocks, sunburst-tort look. I got the low-wide frets and am digging them. This bass has a swamp ash body and is super lightweight!

Yeah, I think it was one of your posts that inspired me to get the low-wides. Fortunately the neck on this Carvin is straight as an arrow and the low wides make it feel like the neck is just a tad bit thinner!

Quick question here. IS it possible to tel Carvin not to ship the bass to a address ? Let me clarify - I plan on visiting one of the stores, either the one in Hollywood or San Diego. So can I tell them that I'll be picking up the bass there ?

I'm sure if you call them they'd be very happy to hold it. You should definitely go to SD just to meet the hair which is Jason Flock. He's just a crazy awesome dude. And he manages that store. Highly recommended.
I just got finished visiting the Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney Texas for the first time. Very cool place. I just came into a little extra cash so i thought i would check out the higher end stuff again I got to play two Mike Lull basses. A 5 string and a 4 string. Then played a couple of the Will Lee model Sadowskys. Ran them all through a Aguilar tone hammer and a pair of matching cabs. After I was done I couldn't wait to get back to my Sb5000. I feel like the sb5000 is just a better sounding and playing bass than those I played today. And still one third to one half of the price. I feel like calling Sekou and saying thanks.
I have one bass, a flame Koa 5er, and sorta feel like you. I might want an acoustic bass at some point, could really go for a Carvin archtop(have you seen those??? Yowza!), for the foreseeable future, can't see needing a different bass. The one I have is just too amazing.
