First time I've played fretless in a while, feels good but sloppy

Very great tone. Nice and growly with that maple midrange snarl. Knock the rust of your fretless fingers and you'll be pleased as punch. Good purchase.

I called today to see how close to the March 2nd completion date they will be.

Also ordered a Shuttlemax 12.0 and a BRX10.2Neo cab. Hopefully they will play nicely with the SB5000.

Thanks guys, glad it's enjoyed. I need to get into a PT regimen for my shoulder, so I can start playing my SB4000 standing up more often. It's still my go to for recording at home though.

If the cab is as good as I hope it is, i'm going to order a second one.

I think 2 of them stacked vertically using all the available power in the 12.0 should be pretty boss.

I was wondering about that. Just 1 cab means you are just using one 600 watt side of the amp, right? Not that 600 watts isn't enough for many/most gigs, but if you're paying for 1200 might as well be able to use em.

Exactly right 2 amps each delivering 600w to a 4 ohm load.

Also, i got the 1200 for a steal. $689 shipped on Amazon.

That really is a steal! I got my Streamliner 600 for $550 and I thought that was a bargain. And on amazon? That's a great price for a great amp.

Larry (the previous owner) told me that they are D'Addario ProSteels EPS170 Regular Light Long Scale Bass Strings. Personally, I can't wait to get a set of DR SunBeams on there.

I have a question about the Low-Wide frets.

After following this thread for a couple of months, I'm definitely pulling the trigger on a SB5000 TODAY!

I mostly play Jazz and Gospel, playing fingerstyle and slap. For slapping, is there a big difference between the Low-Wides vs. the Medium-Jumbo frets or other fret options?

just got an SB4000 from kickboxr. Threw some fresh Slinkys on it and plugged it in. Great sound - tone - feel. Exactly what I was looking for! i am very impressed with the SB line.

Man, those are two great looking basses. What electronics and woods did you get on your Icon? Also, what's the sound and feel difference between those two? Do you have the ability to record clips? I'd love to hear a comparison between those two basses. If I could get an Icon that looked like that but felt and sounded just like my SB5000, I might do it.

It's still early and I've had VERY limited time with the Icon, but it can certainly dial in a nice variety of tones with the mid sweep, treble, eq, and PUP blend. From a nice thick Pbass boom to a snotty knotty timber of a bridge-centric jazz, it seems to be capable to do it all. Really really nice middy growl! I sold my Stingray and bought this and I am so much happier with the 'growl' and I don't miss that nasally cry famous with the 'Rays.
The Icon is quite versatile and I can come close to the SB jazzy sound with a little work on the dials. I've read a review or two saying the Icon is too modern 'Marcus Millerish sounding'or even too nasally and I have to completely disagree. You definitely do not get that bright, tinny sound IMHO. I love the soapbars and I'm sure I'd love a version with the J99s! Hmmmmm -GAS??

Aesthetically the Icon wins hands down FOR ME. Slim neck makes for easy gripping for me and the string spacing (I did not order the asymmetric neck) gives me a faster feel. Very very very smooth movement across the board, again, FOR ME. I can easily see the Icon becoming my primary, though, I'd love to try an SB5000 with the same spacing!
