Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 5!

Joe, here's a really quick and dirty mach up of a Ferrari Red SB4000 with black pickguard, cream pickups and maple fingerboard. Pretty sloppy, had to just roughly color in the finish and highlights, but close enough to get the idea across I think.

IIRC, there is one of these (Ferrari Red) in one of the previous SB threads. I think it had a white pearloid guard on it.

Yep, with ebony and MOP blocks and matching headstock. Yeah, I saw that one earlier I think part 2.

Yeah, I'm all for posting it here. I think the two basses are similar enough to warrant a post in this thread (although others might disagree). I did, however, go to the b40/50 thread and look at your post. Very nice bass. Carvin does it up right.

Yep, a bass that beautiful definitely deserves a spot on this thread. And I love the cream pickups with that color. Sharp.

Do you think the creme pups would still look alright? I am trying to iamgine it with the black blocks, the black hardware, and the creme pups, but my imagination sucks.

Ha ha! No chance! For me, basses are to be collected and admired and used! I never sell anything musical, because the few bucks I would get for them never justify the emptyness in my heart!


But if I did sell one it would be my dark walnut stained LB76 because though I love it, the string spacing is too narrow!

You'll have to get those aftermarket stickers for the blocks b/c Carvin will not do blocks on maple.

I'm not generally a fan of red finish on instruments, but the Ferrari Red/Black PG/Black HW/Black PU/Maple combo would look pretty slick. Especially with the black blocks added.

Don't worry, I have a source for that. Ordered some for my current RW board MIM Jazz in abalone. They don't feel clumsy at all and look really nice to boot.

Don't worry, I have a source for that. Ordered some for my current RW board MIM Jazz in abalone. They don't feel clumsy at all and look really nice to boot.

Recorded a short clip with the SB4000 last night. Shows off the tone pretty well I think, in the context of a typical "Jazz Bass" sound. Finger style, passive, both pickups and tone full. Forgive the sloppy guitar playing, I pray thee.
