Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

I think I'm finally going to bite the bullet, sell my SB4000 and get a chambered model (they weren't available when I ordered). Since I use it constantly for recording, but never for practice or gigging because of the weight. Also I've figured out which features I really like (active electronics, SS frets) and which I don't really need to bother with next time (Hipshot detuner). I could just keep the one I have and get another, but I know I'll end up using the heavier one less or never, so I might as well let it go. If anyone here is interested I'll gladly give you first dibs, trying to figure out a reasonable asking price before I put it in the classifieds.

Kinda sucks that Carvin wouldn't do just a body for you. Hopefully the good reviews will keep the resale stigma away.

I do understand where they're coming from. They're very conscious about keeping some kind of brand integrity with the SB series. They make a good quality product, with an excellent setup and they want to combat the "it's so cheap, it must BE cheap" idea. They don't want crappy parts basses with an SB body shape floating around, diluting the brand name. I was hoping for a little trust, especially since I said I was willing to ship the bass back to them, pay for the new body and labor and have them keep the old body and send the finished product back to me. I can't fault them for saying no though, they don't know me personally and have every right to stick to their policies. I do the same thing in my business. The resale value doesn't bum me out that much, I just have a hard time letting go of the bass because it sounds and plays GREAT. I don't dislike what I have, I just want it to be a little bit lighter. I admit it's not unreasonably heavy, the weight issue is on me. I would never warn anyone off the brand for that reason.
