Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

Agreed, there is no way I could wait that long. I have 2-3 weeks left on my SB build and it has seemed like a long, long wait. There's no way I could make myself stay on one of the longer lists like Fodera. If I ever put on my big boy pants and bought one of those I would just have to find a used one somewhere.
We're getting OT here, but this is actually a fairly commonly practiced thing... get something to placate yourself in the mean time and then either flip it upon delivery to help cover the cost of the new one or keep it if you like it enough and have the means. I've done this as well.
Alternatively, in my case, I have a few nice basses, and honestly, that helps a lot... I still greatly anticipate the new one, but I have stuff in the mean time to ease the "pain".
It's really a bigger problem for people who are 1-2 bass people, so it's the only bass, or only really nice bass, they (will) have. Those are the tough cases... and ones that probably require more beer to solve.

I understand the concept, but I am unbelievably fickle. If I had more than a 2 or 3 month wait I would have already found something else I wanted more than what was on order. In my messed up little world, it doesn't even have to make sense. Sometimes my mind changes just for the sake of changing. Luckily, I don't feel this way about my wife and kids.....I wouldn't trade them for the world. But around my house (house included) if I don't kiss it goodnight before I go to bed, it's for sale.
All that being said, I am beyond pumped that I am on the downward slope of my SB wait time. I already have the "kid at Christmas" feeling and I still have a little while to wait. Granted, I have to keep my mind busy and stay out of the TB classefieds...

I've been very fortunate lately to record my SB5000 on some pretty cool sessions and it just SINGS! The engineers love the tone and say they just let the bass do its thing! That says a lot about the bass!

There are a couple of schools on thoughts regarding compressors and personally I'm all for that tight sound. If there is one additional piece of gear that is almost essential to me (other then bass and amp) its a compressor.
I also like the EBS comp if I'm packing tight and not using a rack.

I also believe compression is essential. If you're using it right it's not an effect and people really won't even know it's there. A good compressor just tightens it up a bit and many can act as a limiter and keep that occasional output spike under control.
That is NOTHING compared to typical custom bass build times. NOTHING. Carving is blindingly fast at this with these time frames.
Typical custom order bass build times are more like 10 MONTHS to in some cases a couple years! THAT's torture!
I've been down that road myself many times... just sayin'...
You're right Vic.....I should count my blessings and be glad that the wait is 10 weeks instead of 10 months!!!
Don't wanna' sound like a jerk, but yeah. I mean just as you get a lot for the price with these, you also get a lot less wait time as well. Carvin absolutely has the business model figured out on these. I can't think of ANYbody else that can do what they do, in the time they do it in, for the money they charge, IN THE USA!

Oh yeah, very nice. Looks sharp with the cream pickups.
Are those the Stacked Humbuckers or the Single Coils? I read where the Humbuckers are 30% less output? But I like the idea of no noise...

I believe these are the single coils. I have another bass (not an SB) with HB's (1-stacked, 1-MM style) that is going to going to be my fretless. Both pickups sound great and allow for plenty of snappy high end and drubby lows.
