Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 6!

My gosh that's a beautiful bass. I love how the birdseye board works with the more reserved theme of the body.
I think it's fairly comparable in size as far as how it feels when you play it, but it's kind of a slab design and that larger top horn generally means it runs a little heavier (most are 9-10 pounds in ash), and the angle of that top horn also means it fits bags better than cases.
Who bought the flamed koa from the In-Stock page? Was it someone here? That was a beautiful bass.

True, no SB, BUT... I do have an excuse. The audio track was recorded before I had my SB.
My estimated completion date was March 2nd, and as far as I know it should be shipping out today.
Just keep an eye on your credit card/bank account. They will charge the balance just before they ship.
Usually, you only pay the 20% deposit and the balance is due before it's shipped.

10 1/2 weeks of waiting is over today. My new SB5000 is waiting for me at the UPS Store. I'm joining the "SB5000 Cult" today !!! I'll post some pics later when I get home and get it opened up. Hope it's a looker. Alder body, plain maple top, plain maple board and headstock in Classic Burst. Going for a very vintage look and hopefully tone.
I will be ordering something this May and I still haven't finalized all the options I want. Hardest decision, color options. It really is a lot to wrap your head around.

That was by far my toughest decision for mine. It literally took me months to decide which color to go with. Then one day someone posted a video interview of Tom Barney playing a deep orange burst SB with a maple board and it was an immediate "that's the one" feeling. It felt like a ton of bricks had been lifted off of my chest!
Jarrett, thanks for your help and input on picking different options and wood for tone. I hope I got it right. Mine isn't a honey burst though, it's the classic 3-tone burst. I wanted to copy a 40th Anniversary Telecaster or old Gibson vintage look, but couldn't bring myself to order something I wasn't sure how it was going to look. Probably a Deep Honeyburst over flamed maple would have gotten me close to what I wanted. And JoeVictim, yes, so many options and decisions to make. I probably went with a safer color choice, but it's so hard to decide. Lots of old Carvin guitar pics out on the web that I don't care for. Too harsh of lines separating colors. But I believe the paint shop has improved tremendously over the years. You can order Narrow Black edges on a lot of things which I think might be helpful. Good luck in your choices.
I took me months to decide on a color too! I was looking through all of my saved Carvin catalogs, browsing through ALL of the bass and guitar pics in the Carvin website and even browing pics on other bass makers websites. I finally settled on the deep flamed honeyburst. I can't wait to see this...only 9 more weeks to go.....
