Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 7!

I sent Carvin tech support an email with this question, but didn't get a response...
Anybody know?
I'm not aware of any 'jumpers' on the preamp that would allow this. Most of the time, those jumpers are for mid freqs anyway...
Also, Carvin is pretty good to their employees around the Holidays, so they may have reduced staffing at the moment.

That SB5K I bought from ya has become my go-to bass.
It would speak volumes about how good a value this bass is, if I said the names of the ones it sent into hibernation...Thinkin' about doin' some trading for another SB5K, yeah.

Just came back last week from San Diego and a visit to the Carvin store. Played the SB4000 and a few other basses. All of them play like dreams and sound great but I prefer passive electronics because of the "open" and classic tone they give.
Anyhoo, the B4 bass I played with stock pickups was the real deal for me. At just over 700 bucks it had the sound I love (clear, articulate, punchy, and thick) and had a great neck on it. Same pickups as the SB4000, two single coil Alnicos. Much better sounding than the stock PU's of old. The bass was light and very comfortable. No fret buzz on it, or any Carvin bass that I tried for that matter. Perfect setups on every bass.
For those wanting the SB sound but are a little short on cash or prefer more classic styling, the B4 is a great bass.

I just ordered the one on the right with black pickguard.
I have never played a Carvin before, but i am so confident this will be my main bass for a long time.
can't wait to get it and slap that bass man. lol

Still digging my new fretless SB5001. I put some DR Fatbeams on it and it really brought the mwah out.
I might try some Sunbeams next, but happy with them right now.
Can't win with some people. I would put my SB against any passive 4 banger in any price range. I'll take the Pesi challenge any day of the week. If I find a bass better, cool. I don't think I will though. I played every bass I could get my hands on when I started having back issues. I even tried out one of the less than attractive beatle basses (tone wasn't me). After all but giving up on finding a Sub $2000 bass that weighed under 8lbs, I was ready to go for a Lull. I was starting to save up and then Carvin offered chambered w/o the fancy top and I bit hard. Glad I did too. Saved me some cash in the process and helped me find my #1.
Do I GAS for other stuff, sure. But, it is going to take one heck of an instrument to unseat my SB (if that is possible).

I may not own one (yet!) but I'm still lusting after an SB5000. Maybe it's a good thing I haven't had the opportunity to order yet... my build has changed yet again.
I was originally originally thinking an ash/maple blond to get the Marcus Miller sound, then I was thinking a satin jet black unlined fretless with black hardware. This week, I just priced out the same bass, but with a figured walnut top instead of the satin jet black. lol5sg.
I still have and regularly play my SB5000... the one and only I've ever bought and I have no desire to get another (or sell this one), because I'm just that happy with it. It exceeded my expectations and continues to please every time I play it.Whew, its nice to come back to a thread where people like Carvins
