Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 8!

Does anyone here have a custom made pickguard? I have a cool idea for my SB5000 and was hoping someone had a template already made up, or had work done where you know a template was created, since none of the results I've pulled from Google offer Carvin basses as a template design. Anyone?

Once again, does anyone have a custom pickguard for their SB5000?

Oh, I've found places that do it, but am just looking for a place that has a template already. 1) because I won't have my bass back for another month I can't make a template myself and 2) because there's an extra setup fee if they don't already have a template and I'm a cheapskate LOL

Most of the places can make one from a tracing of your pickguard (in your case have someone with an SB5000 trace it for you) or you can send in a pickguard for them to use as a template (much more accuracte) but if you're in a rush, you'd have to buy one from Carvin and send it to them.

Board member Vic was kind enough to sell me his unused white pickguard (even though it looks amazing on his bass!). When that arrives I'll drop it off with Tony Dudzik over at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], who just happens to have a shop one block west of my daughter's school. I'll let you guys know how it turns out, and then we'll all know for sure at least ONE place that will have the Carvin SB pick guard template!

Post up the info if you find it, eh? :D

I found Danielrocks2, who made an appearance in the 5th SB owner's thread. He had a most beautiful SB5000 that he later got a clear pickguard for. I messaged him and he said it was made by the guys at Jeannie Pick Guards. I'm going to try my local guy first, and see how that goes. Regardless, enjoy THESE PIX!!

Wowza.

That clear looks nice. It's great that you have a place close by. At least they'll have a template for the SB5000 after you but they'll need one for the SB4000. I had looked at the Jeanie Pickguards site but since it's pretty much barebones, I was not able to tell what they have available for templates.

I tend to use Pickguard Heaven but didn't see any Carvin templates on their site.

Ya so I'm just gonna drop these here....got it 2 days ago.

it's a SB4001, stainless frets, satin neck, vol,vol,tone,tone. :bassist:

How do you like the MM pickup? When I eventually order one that's the pickup configuration I'm going for.

I heard a Lakland Jazz last weekend (fellow bass cat was checking out my pedalboard) that had the MM/J pickup config, and it sounded KILLER. If I like my fretless SB5k as much as I think I will, that pickup config is in hot running with a P/J for my next bass (after a natural blond SB for that Marcus Miller sound I've always been searching for). :D

(help me I have an addiction and I haven't even gotten my first SB yet lol)

If you think anyone reads or cares about what you put in your signature, then you're a sad little monkey.

P.S. I read your sig... :D
