Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 8!

My SB5000 is two weeks past the 8 week date I was quoted. Apparently their build time has gone up to 14 weeks, must be getting pretty popular

Man, I HOPE that's not the case. My card says estimated completion for mine is 6/10 and I'm already itching to get it. My Stambaugh took 11 months, and that was fine because I mostly forgot about it until he said it was done. My SB5k was only supposed to be a 2 month way total, so I was itchy right when I placed the order.

First world problems, right? lol

Ordered a SB5001 a few days ago. Alder body, 5-piece gloss maple neck, antique brown stain over flame (gloss finish), black pickguard, rosewood fingerboard. Can't wait, this is really going to be a relief on my back.

Yea! here's my SB5001. Ash body, 5 pcs maple neck, J99A and birdseye maple finger board. Im in Singapore and got it through my local dealer, from confirmation to receiving the bass yesterday was exactly 8 weeks, which is great. Beautiful bass. Not too light for a 5001 though, weighing at 9.1lbs. But the woods are beautiful.. Play great too

Tell me about it! Although I'm ordering from the UK, which maybe makes a difference? Either way, the suspense is killing me!

But isn't 9.1 lbs., a bit heavy for a chambered bass?

Yea I know right. Not too sure why was mine this heavy. But then again 8.75lbs vs 9.1lbs isn't that much of a difference? Wat do I guys think? Maybe I was using a 11lbs ray34ca so I'm really happy with the weight alr.

WOW..Carvin should have popped off a picture of that before they shipped it for the SB50001 Page...

I wouldn't really consider 9.1 lbs 'heavy' especially when the body of the 5 is alot bigger than the 4...it's gorgeous

My SB5001's have been in the 8.5lb range. My current one is. 9.1 doesn't seem that much diff to me. Maybe its a little heavier due to the sheer weight of the awesomeness of that top

9.1lbs...C'mon, my Alembic weighs at least twice that!

BTW...I installed a push/pull, active/passive volume pot on my SB's 3 band preamp. Works great and was an easy mod. Oh...and I converted it to a blend pot, too.

Thanks to Funkinthetrunk's kindness and generosity, he allowed me to play his SB4000 and Brian Bromberg when I was in Denver a couple of weeks ago. When I got home, I immediately ordered an SB4000 with a Brian Bromberg neck profile! Two amazing guitars, thanks again Gerry!

Hi Toptube, I just told them that's what I wanted, they said no problem, give us an extra $100.00! You don't get the 10 day trial period, if you don't like it you're stuck with it, but you still get the 5 year warranty. Here's my order confirmation.

Yeah, I was surprised they would do it too. I called them a week before I tried out Funkinthetrunk's Bromberg, asking about neck profiles. I have an LB70 and a B4, and I love their necks. When they told me I could get a different profile, I was going to get an LB70 neck, but once I felt the Bromberg neck I had to have it!
