Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call!

How's the neck? I'm really jones'n to try putting one on my Precision. Carvin says they'll bolt right up. I'm wondering how they feel as opposed to a regulation Jazz neck?

Some would argue that a Carvin bass IS a boutique bass, without the boutique price. I'm seriously considering building one next year.

I played a SB4000 at the Carvin store in Sac and it's an awesome bass. What surprised me the most about the bass was the tone, it's not like other Carvin basses, it has great tone. Solid, punchy, very clear tone.

I've already got the SB5000 picked out that I want after the new year. I can't wait.;)

Currently, I play an LEJ5 and love it... I am awaiting delivery of a fretless SB-5000 w/ flamed KOA top! I had a chance to play an SB-5000 fretted w/an artist who helped develop them.... I gotta tell ya.... THESE BASSES ARE INCREDIBLE... As soon as the fretless gets here, I am going to order a fretted SB-5000. you CANNOT go wrong with these instruments.... the cat's that I played has parked his Sadowsky, his LEJ5 in favor of the Carvin!! The pre-amp is much like a Sadowsky, but voiced a little darker...

I love mine! It gets lots of playing time.

My SB5000 is scheduled to be completed Dec 16th. It's going to be ash body in classic white, tort guard, birdseye board w/ abalone dot inlays, chrome hardware, w/ the Carvin single coils. I just got an Atelier Z so I'm very eager to see how it holds up against it, as I consider the Atelier the epitome of Jazz 'on roids greatness in terms of tone(playability is outstanding but it has a nasty heel block which makes access to the highest frets very difficult). I know the build of the SB5000 is going to be high quality so worst case scenario, I could drop in a Bart XTCT or a Nordy pre and some Nordy 70's wind NJ5s in it.

That is very tempting, I may have to order one next year since I can get what I want for under $1,200.:)
