Carvin Vanquish Fretless Arrived!

Hey All,

I ordered one of the new Carvin 5-string Vanquish Fretless basses and got it in the mail yesterday late afternoon. Figured i'd post some pics for everyone. The specs are as follows:

ASH1 ONE PIECE SWAMP ASH BODY

CS CLEAR SATIN MATTE FINISH

APH ASH HEADSTOCK OVERLAY

F FRETLESS FINGERBOARD

FI FRETLESS FINGERBOARD W/WHITE LINES

BC BLACK CHROME PLATED HARDWARE

Plays incredibly well and has a wide variety of tones from more of an upright sound to a really nice quacky jaco-like tone. I realize that i'm just not good enough for this bass yet, but look forward to playing with it. Probably has the best fretboard i've ever played on to date. Just over 1400 bucks delivered with Hardshell case. I kept the specs pretty bare-bones, but of course it gets more expensive when you add all the fancy stuff like inlays, hardware, etc.

gumbynotpokey, i believe it's a 12" radius. The playability is amazing! Again, one of the best fretboard (if not the best i've ever played). It's a really solid piece of ebony. If i had one gripe i would say that the low B may need a little action adjustment, but it's really subtle. Might take it to my guy in town and have him look it over. Action is very low which is great. I typically play my fretted basses a little higher so i can dig in more, but on fretless it's nice to have as low action as possible. I thought i wouldn't like the Carvin electronics as much from what i've read before, but so far it sounds amazing. A lot of sonic versatility in this instrument.

And i agree, i love the clean and simple look. I specifically ordered it to keep it simple which is also a little nicer on the wallet :)

Well thought out and beautiful to look at. I'm sure it plays and sounds fantastic and will provide you unlimited opportunities for your continued musical growth. I personally like ramps to further develop right hand technique like one of my inspirations Gary Willis.

The bare bones look was the way to go. That thing is all class. These basses are cool but I always thought with all the options, people go overboard almost to a tacky point. Yours is awesome. The way the grain moves with the contours of the body would be criminal to cover up. Enjoy it brother!
