Carvin's BX1500 and B2000

I loved my BX1500, but the power amps died after a year (just out of warranty, of course). It was going to be around $275 + shipping both ways to have Carvin repair it, and I wouldn't get much to make it worth selling, so it's been sitting in a box for 4 years now.

But now it seems Carvin has reduced its flat rate repair service a little bit. It's now $195 for amp repairs (still have to pay shipping both ways though)... I might reconsider.

For $195, that would be very tempting. I doubt you can find a used one for that and you would likely have a 1 year old preamp with new power amps, or a whole new board. Good to hear they dropped the prices. New prices sound pretty fair. I knew they now offer an hourly rate, but you don't want that if it's not a minor problem. I take it you went through and unplugged then reseated all the connectors.

I was looking at the website again as I have some spare cash to get it repaired, and I either missed this previously or it's changed:
"CARVIN does not repair products over 5 years from the invoice date."

It used to be 10 years. Now my only option is to exchange for a new BX1500 at a 30% discount ($385). The new catch with that is to get the discount you must submit "proof (picture) that your unit was destroyed verifying that it can’t be re-used or sold or send a receipt with the serial number from a recycle center."

This seems really ridiculous. Definitely puts me off from considering Carvin for anything in the future.
