Nothing "wrong" with bridging, Chef. I like to have the option of controlling the output to each cab separately, and the BX1500's XO control invites experimentation that's almost too enticing to ignore!

Since the bx1500 has two power amps each with their own volume control, could a user use one side for bass and the other side with a completely different instrument like guitar or vocals (fed with a mixer signal etc)?
In this scenario one speakon would go to the PA monitors and one to the bass cab, correct?

It is a dual power amp fed by a mono preamp so, no that cant be done. Even the effects lines are mono.
Edit: I'm wrong. Item #21 on the owners manual are the two power amp inputs. They are labeled as Tip-ring-sleeve. It looks like if you had two external preamps you could use each power amp seperately using these two jacks. Looks like the answer would be yes (with two external preamps).

I purchased my BX1500 on Jan 3rd at $499. I thought hard about it and just couldn't pass up the deal. I will be using the full 1500 watt thru my Schroeder 4x12 cab.
That will be LOUD. And you have great tonal shaping features to even out that cab if need be.
Will do! We play a lot of ourdoor shows in the summer (car shows mostly) and it will come in handy having that power and the ability to shape it as needed.

Last rehersal I started having trouble with the high channel (ch#2) on my BX1500. It would distort and the output level was low. Tonight I set-up my stack in the living room and verified that after warm-up channel #2 would distort and then disappear all together (it was good when cold).
Traced the problem to the ribbon cable connector in the very front of the amp on top of the preamp board. As I touched it channel #2 would recover. I removed both cables from the preamp board and sprayed both with Deoxit. It now seems solid as a rock with no distortion. I've had it running for a few hours now and problem has not returned.
The BX500 is known to have ribbon cable problems and I was hoping the BX1500 would be different. Heads-up.

This just happened to me tonight on channel 1! I couldn't figure out what was happening. Changed basses, cords and went to a different outlet. No change, still low output and distortion. Once it warmed up 15 minutes or so it cleared up. I'm not happy at all as this head is less than a MONTH OLD! I haven't taken in apart to check the cable yet.
For a month old I shouldn't have to take ANYTHING apart on this!

jnewmark the ribbon cables that I cleaned are the twisted black cables at the front of the amp near my legs in this pix. You simply pull them off the preamp and spray male and female with Deoxit. I did all three cables at the front of the unit (I'm assuming its called the preamp/equalizer board):
rtz...one month is a little soon to do this. I am surprised. My redline R600 needed this treatment after 8 years.
Because the pic I posted was not a bx1500 but a Crown power amp. Same concept, but perhaps a bit misleading so I deleted the pic.
