Case for a Gibson EB-2?

:help:I have searched and read the available threads on this subject but it still seems unclear. Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced case for my 1966 EB-2. Not looking for a vintage, period correct case or a custom built case.

:help:Someone mentioned in another thread that the EB-2 and Epiphone Rivoli basses will fit into any 335 body style guitar case. Anyone tried this or know it to be true? I would be concerned that the width of the headstock with bass tuners would be a problem.

ebay. i bought a case from barry clark music on ebay. just search "gibson eb" or "gibson eb-2" or "gibson eb2".

his listings pop up every week or so, he just sells out a bunch, so don't even try to buy from auction, pay the extra 10 bucks and Buy It Now. I missed out on a couple and had to wait a couple weeks till he relisted (he manufactures them himself) and finally got one.

it fit my eb-2 (sold it) well. it has a little extra room at the top of the headstock (made to fit a 335-12 as well), but other than that it's a really great case for the price. nice build quality and not too pricey for new.

*This is the response I was waiting for. I saw his cases but wasn't sure of the fit. In the picture that showed the Rivoli it looked like it was loose around the body. The picture of the 335 12 looked tight though. Glad to hear about a personal experience with this case. I'll keep an eye out for his next one. Thanks.

I have a '68 EB-2 and a Gibson LP Sig bass. The EB-2 fits nicely in the the LP Sig case. There are a couple inches of space above the headstock, but the body fits snugly in the bottom part of the case. I don't know why anyone would need to put foam in the case, as the bass doesn't move at all.

The Casady bass is an exact replica of the LP Sig bass, so it seems certain that the EB-2 will work with the Casady case. (the Casady bass will not fit in an EB-2 case, if you were wondering)

Yes, I bought an Epiphone Jack Casady bass case for my '67 EB-2 and the fit is perfect. No need for added foam. (Maybe the Rivoli II is smaller than the 1960's Rivolis? That'd be weird.) There's no wiggle room for my EB-2 in the JC bass case. It fits just right. Sweetwater had the cases for $119; everyone else was $129 and some of them were out of stock. Its worth getting. Nice and slim, not like an acoustic bass case with foam added.

The last time (I know of) that this thread emerged the OP found the right case at a place called "Music Telephone". I'd never heard of them, but he seemed satisfied. I meant to follow up on that, but my '68 is still in its chip board case.

In reply to an earlier post, I'd not invest money at barry clark music. I purchased a case that was listed to fit my EB-2 and what I got was a jumbo acoustic guitar case with huge amounts of padding in it. The bass fits lose and the thing is huge, did I say huge? I'd stay with the JC recomendation.

I'm not sure if I was the OP in that one but I did follow up and purchase a case from Music Telephone. It turned out to be a fairly large but lightweight rectangular case w/brass latches. It's covered w/a very thin tolex-like material. It's a little bulky w/ a lot of extra space in the headstock area (I think it might also accept a long-scale hollow-body EB), but the padding/lining is very plush and holds the bass very securely. It has a strap compartment. It serves the purpose I have - a safe way to store & gig my '68 EB-2. I think the price was in the low $100's but honestly I'd have to check records to be sure. I'd call it adequate and functional, and their service was fine.

i didn't have the original case for my '66 EB2D so i bought the EPI JC case for it. it's a little long at the ehadstock but still fits like a glove with no slop.

Does anyone know if the Jack Casady case would fit an Ibanez ASB-140? Ibanez doesn't make this bass (or its case) anymore. They more recently make something similar called the AGB-140, but I tried the case and it's a little too small at the lower bout. Here is a pic of the Ibanez I have. Both my bass and the Epi JC are 34" scale, so that's good, and both appear to be about the same width and depth, but the placement and shape of the lower horn is different on the two bases. Any experiences?

Sorry to make this a zombie thread, but I thought I would post some useful information (that isn't even actually relevant to the OP)

I have an Ibanez ASB140 Artcore bass that came with no case. I recently bought the Jack Cassady case for it on recommendation from another ASB140 owner who swore it would fit. In my particular experience, it does not.

The body seems like it would fit pretty well but the neck is just slightly too long for a decent fit, by about an inch or so. I tried removing some foam from the lower end of the case but still no luck.

I considered modifying the headstock end of the case but decided against going that route. I am going to return it and continue searching for an Ibanez case. No luck with their customer service department so far.

(FWIW, the person who told me it would work has the original Ibanez case for his, so I don't know why I listened to him in the first place)

The Jack Cassady Epiphone case fits my EB2-D like a glove. Got it through Guitar Center. Around $140. I was going to junk the old original Gibson case. Their advice was to keep it. Even in rough condition on the outside, told me it was worth $300+. Maybe more. Suggested I keep it and sell it with the bass if and when I ever decide to quit playing.
